Suunto Core Watch
The award-winning Suunto Core Watch gathers like a ton a data. Not literally a ton, because then it would be really hard to wear on your wrist. That wasn't a funny joke. Sorry about it. Anyway, the core features of the Suunto Core (get it?) are pretty much a must-have for any trekker or traveler. We're talking altimeter, barometer, compass, depth meter, and of course watch.
The Suunto Core's altimeter has a 9000m range (that's 29,500 feet), and is suited for activities where it is essential to know your altitude and ascent. The Core has an altitude difference feature that lets you track changes in altitude during a climb, and a log recorder that stores all of your movements between the start and stop times. You can view graphs of altitude changes during your trek, find out how much you climbed, the duration of ascents and descents, average speeds, and more.
The Core's barometer features a storm alarm to notify you of a sudden drop in air pressure, which may indicate a coming storm. It features a weather trend indicator to provide quick reference to check upcoming weather conditions. Best of all is the Core's automatic Alti/Baro switch, which senses movement or lack thereof, and switches between the altimeter and barometer. It knows that if you're moving it should record altitude, and when you stop to rest it should record pressure. So smart.
The Suunto Core also has a digital compass which displays the cardinal or half-cardinal point and North. There's a declination adjustment so you can correct the difference between true and magnetic North. It's got a rotating bezel, too, yo. The Core's depth meter is intended for snorkeling, and provides current depth and maximum depth of your dive. The Core's max depth is 10 meters or 32.8 feet.
