About Men's Hiking Boots for Backpacking and Day-hiking:

If you go out hiking in the wrong pair of boots, you're gonna have a bad time. For real though, when it comes to hiking and backpacking, you're most important piece of gear is the footwear you wear. Especially if you're a dude. Why's that you ask? I'll tell you. Before I do though, I should note that this may not be true for all you men out there, but a bunch of you will probs be able to relate to it.

My girlfriend loves the outdoors. She loves to go hiking, backpacking, and all that other fun stuff. What she doesn't like to do is carry a heavy pack loaded down with gear. That means that the major hauling responsibilities are put on my shoulders, literally. In order to man-up and carry all our camping gear, I need to be hiking with the best boots I can get.

I still can't stress how important wearing the right hiking footwear is. If you're a guy that's going to be carrying a bunch of weight, and doing some serious backpacking, I'd highly suggest rocking out to a pair of boots with a stiff sole and good ankle support. If you'll be in wet conditions, you should for sure think about some waterproof boots. Going to hike in some dry and arid conditions? Think about wearing a pair of boots with some solid ventilation. If you'll be out for an extended hiking or backpacking trip, it's going to be a good idea to go about a size up from your normal shoe size. The reason for that is because your feet will start to swell after a few days on the trail, and you'll need the extra space in your boots for your now enlarged feet.

Either way, if you don't want to take any of my advice here, that's totes cool. Just keep in mind that the boots you wear on your feet will result in how you feel about your entire trip. I promise that.
