About Icebreaker Merino Wool Apparel:
Icebreaker is a pretty neat brand. Mainly because they are the masters of Merino Wool. If you don’t know what merino wool is, you may want to sit down. The information you are about to absorb may shock and awe you and you may go into shock from pure excitement and having your mind blown. It all began with a marketing grad named Jeremy who discovered Merino wool and totally fell in love with it after meeting a sheep farmer in New Zealand. Jeremy was so infatuated that he gave his girlfriend back in America the boot and never saw her again. Yep, he totally dumped her for a sheep. Jeremy only had eyes for the soft, sensual and natural feel of the wool and the potential it had as a tee shirt. From that point on, he and his partner ran around New Zealand developing the world’s first merino layering system for the outdoors and creating a global business along the way. Driven by vision and passion, Icebreaker has become a badass company with a deep connection to sheep. And nature.
Icebreaker uses merino wool in their products. You could say they are kind of a big deal. Merino wool is cray cray because it has special powers. Not really, but it does have the ability to regulate body temperature in a variety of conditions. What I really mean is that it keeps you warm in cool weather and cool in warm weather. If you thought that wool was only good for keeping you warm, then you would be wrong. Sorry to be mean about it. Icebreaker uses merino wool in their products because it wicks moisture away from the body and dries super fast after it gets wet. merino wool is also odor resistant. This is awesome because no one has to know that the shirt you’re wearing at the bar right meow is the same shirt you were just working out and sweating in half an hour ago. Kinda gross but very sneaky.
Merino wool is pretty wild. If the amazing info I have provided didn’t just flabbergast you, then i don’t know what will. (Also, take note of my use of the word flabbergast). In my head, I picture the Icebreaker headquarters in the mountains of New Zealand with sheep frolicking in the meadows and it sounds like a wonderful place. Icebreaker’s connection to nature remains true in their products and their belief in letting nature take the lead in designing things that are simple, efficient and beautiful. They use their passion to harness nature’s force in their merino wool products and their sheep.
