What began as a small-scale homemade sandal operation is now a globe-spanning phenomenon. Chaco's enthusiasm for quality footwear has been apparent for over a quarter-century, providing the masses with sandals, shoes and boots that are built for comfort and performance without compromise.
Back in 1989, Mark Paigen was driven to build "the ultimate sports sandal", producing his line of "Gecko" sandals out of his home in Colorado. His dedication to comfort and sturdiness was steadfast and noticeable, and within a few short years production ramped up to a facility in downtown Paonia. The Gecko name would soon give way to Chaco, and the brand's indelible mark on the footwear industry was established shortly thereafter.
Building the perfect athletic sandal was only the beginning. The later 90s saw an introduction of women's sizing and fits, with Chaco's most popular product lines coming into the fray. As footwear technology has advanced Chaco has grown with it, building tech like Vibram soles into their most popular models and making for a line of footwear that's as dependable as ever.
A quarter century has been spent providing the world with some of the best quality athletic footwear available with no sign of slowing down. As long as there is adventure to be had, there will be Chaco.
