The Yaktrax Walker is designed for people who are looking for an easy-to-use, lightweight traction device for their shoes. The Walker is the original version of Yaktrax and is ideal for pedestrians, the elderly, business people or anyone who want greater stability on ice and snow. The Walker is made out of an injection molded thermal plastic elastomer designed for easy on and off. The coils are protected against rusting and hand-wound to give you 360 degrees of traction on ice and snow. When you walk in the Yaktrax Walker, every step you take places hundreds of biting edges in direct contact with the ice beneath your feet. Yaktrax can be worn in temperatures as low as -41° Farenheit. The patented design of the Walker makes it a unique solution to walking on packed snow and ice. The outerband conforms to the length and width of your boot or shoe, the high strength horizontal coils provide forward and backward stability, and the vertical coil pattern provide side-to-side stability. Recently tested by hundreds of winter enthusiasts, the Walker has been approved and recommended by the National Health and Wellness Club and the Handyman Club of America.

very appreciated giftI got this for my stepfather for Christmas. He was THRILLED. He and my mom are getting to an age where they're having some problems with their stability, and so being on icy surfaces is anxiety-producing. He was very appreciative. He put them on immediately (in the house! walking across the wood floor in them!) and walked outside in the packed snow. And was happy. ,,,,My only reservation is I've seen at least 2 of these lying in the snow near the sidewalk, lost, bereft of their person as I've walked around Ann Arbor. So, it seems at least some people have trouble keeping them on their feet. A yaktrak isn't as helpful off the shoe as it is on....Not sure if it is user error...

Everyone should have theseThese are great for snow on sidewalks and most ice, as the metal coils give a nice grip to pretty much anything. You must be careful with this though, as to not walk across someone's nice wood floor and as others have said--be careful on marble or other smooth surfaces. These are also great because they are easy on, easy off, and they can fit on most shoes (except maybe those sexy stilettos or something). Speaking of easy on, easy off--I have had one stick to the carpet at the entrance to a store and I didn't feel it pop off, and had to retrace my steps, so keep this in mind as well.

A decent solution, but not the bestYaktrax are very useful, provided you can handle their limitations. They slip onto the bottom of your shoes/boots for extra traction in the snow. In that way, they really do work. No slipping and sliding here...in the SNOW. Ice now, they're not as effective, and it feels really weird to walk on cement, etc. with these things on. Oh, and be very, very careful when you walk inside. Marble or tile floors become EXTREMELY slippery with Yaktrax on your feet. Stick to carpets and floor mats whenever possible!

Neat item.Worked great in all slippery conditions, from packed trails near Bozeman to glassy parking lots at Bohart Ranch. Slip on easily with absolutely no fuss. Great idea, well executed.
