Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had to buy a pair.... I bought these for my parents for Christmas. They are both runners and it scares me to death when they run on the slick Michigan sidewalks. The day after Christmas my mother and went on a long walk through neighborhood parks, she wore her YakTrax and didn't have any issues with ice or snow. I, on the other hand, could barely stay upright!,,,,I immediately went out and bought myself a pair. I've worn them running, hiking even just walking through campus, and they've been wonderful. ,,,,They are a great price and seem really durable. I wear a woman's size 7.5 and bought a small, they fit fine over my wide Keen hiking boots and my narrow running shoes. ,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost awesome; good for city walking and the dog park; Almost awesome. ,,,,Purchased these after I fell on a sheet of ice while walking through my neighborhood (and hit my head and had to go to the hospital). Wearing these certainly made me feel more confident walking the un-shoveled streets of my neighborhood, and for weeks I thought they were incredible. However, I soon came upon another ice sheet and went sliding -- even while wearing these (but I didn't fall). So my self-confidence came down a notch.,,,,My experience with these is only walking through the neighborhood and the dog park, so I can't speak to other situations.,,,,I wear a woman's size 10 boot; purchased these in "Large" and they fit wonderfully on my boots.,,,,,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely useful for injury prevention on hilly, snowy terrain My review is mixed, as I have an excellent testimonial for Yaktrax's usefulness but not a great one for their durability. I used mine over hiking boots for a 32 mile trek over snowy hilly terrain. They are key for stability on hills. Unfortunately my right one snagged a root & snapped in half at mile 9. Ten miles later my right knee was very painful from all the extra torque from a slippery right foot. So I switched my left Yaktrax to my right foot & my right knee stopped hurting & gave me another 13 miles pain free. They definitely help to prevent overuse injuries on the legs, along with preventing slips and falls. I would just recommend bringing an extra pair for when they break on you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best products I have ever purchased I started a new job delivering Nitric Oxide to hospitals through the North West, that would take me to Utah and Idaho. On January 23, 2013 Boise was hit with a pretty nasty Ice Storm. Everything that was not protected was covered in 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice. It was a real pain in the butt to get around, not to mention trying to push a cart that weigh in at over 600 lbs.,, My Yaktrax Pro's worked perfectly, were very easy to install over my work boots, and the added toe strap worked great to keep them in place.,,,, If you work outdoors in winter, Yaktrax are a must.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Traction!!! You can walk in anything with these little monsters. I bought these for going to my girlfriends cottage up North (yes I'm from Michigan) and these guys are pretty comfortable too!! There so comfortable that I forgot to take them off before I got into my SUV and started driving and almost got us killed by rolling into a lake (not so frozen). I have to remind myself of this every time i wear them. For a hard earning $25 buckaroos, you won't be sorry. I'm going to try and climb a tree with them and see how they grab (not really).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product but not Best for All Situations These give traction on ice when running, but it's not the best if you are in the neighborhoods and transition from shoveled/clean pavement to snowy/icy pavement. They become less comfortable on the clean areas. Also, I am a women's size 10 which says it should fit in a size small, but it was super tight and difficult to get on the shoe. I went up to a size medium which was much much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome, must have for heavy winter running I haven't quite transitioned to (near)barefoot running in the winter yet, so slipping these babies on my running shoes turns me into one of those crazy animals who run around on ice all the time without falling. Zambonis, I think they are called. Live on Arctic shelf ice?,,But these are totally fantastic. I immediately bought them for everyone I know who runs year round.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from snow chains for your feet I bought these on sale just to see if they work. Easy to put on and take off. Size large is a little tight for my size 10 boots (mens) but I'll keep them and see if they stretch a little. I don't trust them yet on solid ice but great for snow/ice mix. No sharp edges like a crampon, easier on my gaiters.
