"Great product, easy to mount to certain factory mounts." 02/26/12
I bought these landing pads (number 11) for an 05 Saab 9-2x aero, which is actually an 05 Subaru WRX wagon. The US market WRX did not come with roof rack mounts, unless it was also bought with the roof rack option. The 9-2x aero was outfitted by Subaru WITH the factory roof rack mounts for the European style roof racks. They're just hiding under the rain rail cover. All you have to do is release all the latches holding on the rain rail cover, move it, mark the location of the factory mounting holes on the roof, re-install the rain rail cover, drill holes in the cover and mount the landing pad #11 to the factory mounts, right through the rain rail cover for a factory-quality install.
"Easy to install, easier to use" 04/28/11
So they are sweet. Forming the interface between a Yakima rack system and my Saab 9-3 SportCombi, these are the whip. Despite my best effort to not attach them (because I chose to try installing them with the correctly threaded screws, but chose the bunch too short) I got them installed. Once I figured out my error, I put them on the car in about 5 minutes- for all 4!I left them slightly loose, while getting the control tower/crossbar setup aligned, then simply lifted up on one side of the tower/crossbar assembly at a time, and tightened them down. They are rock solid and do not wiggle, shift, or shimmy at all.Hands down, probably the best setup for a roof rack I have ever used.
