"Work good, but could be improved" 06/16/11
These saddles work good. But, because I sometimes haul different boats, I have to change the positions of the saddles. Although this is not hard, it sometimes can be aggravating due to the lack of room under the saddles and the intereference from the mounting arms of the fairing.

I purchased the Landshark set to carry my Fenn Mako XT surfski. So far, they are great. The installation was fast and easy on my Thule bars, and seem secure enough. I also use Thule J-cradles, but the Mako XT hull shape just doesn't fit well, and the ski was moving around during transport. The Landshark saddles hold the boat securely, no movement whatsoever. It was easy to set the distance between the saddles to match the shape of the boat, and there seems to be enough surface area to prevent any hull deforming. I use cheap 'buffing tool' velour covers - 4/5 - over the saddles to protect the finish on the ski. If I had a plastic boat i wouldn't care. Windnoise is minimal, and they lo

Best support saddles I have found! Yakima LandShark Saddles comfortibly adjust to the contour of the boat and have enough grip to keep them in place while securing them to your Yakima Rack. Easy to install and adjust. You can rest assured your Kayak will stay in place and ride wonderfully on your auto's roof.
