"Looks nice and cuts down Hummmmmm" 03/28/12
It doesn't remove all of the noise especially with bikes and kayaks up on the roof, but it does remove some noise caused by the bars when it isn't in place. Plus, I can pretend to be a professional bike rider with a chase car with all of the stickers on it. If only some of these companies would just sponsor some poor casual adventurer so I could just play full time. Anyway, I digress, this is worth the money especially when it is on sell. I recommend it.
"Did What I Wanted It To Do" 01/24/12
Before putting the fairing up on my 03' Acura TL the racks would whistle starting at 65mph and would be loud enough that moderate level music wouldn't block it out by the time you hit 70-75mph. The fairing got rid of the whistle for all but maybe twice on my 8 hours of driving last trip out. With the fairing you get more of the kind of noise when it's jsut super windy outside. The noise created with the fairing installed is much quieter, lower pitched, and can be drown out with a little music. Yakima says the fairing is lockable with the sks lock cores...True... BUT you ALSO NEED another accessory to even be able to use the locks with the fairing.
"NECESSITY!!!!" 12/18/11
New roof rack check. Obnoxiously loud wind noise check. One Yakima Fairing Rack later and problem solved. THIS IS A NECESSITY FOR ANYONE WITH A NEW YAKIMA ROOF RACK. DON'T waste your time. Order it on the front end so you don't have to drive around for a week unable to hear the sound of your own radio.
"Definitely reduces wind noise." 12/14/11
I got the Yakima racks for my old Volvo and hated the noise. Right at around 25-30mph, the cross bars would start vibrating and humming. I picked this thing up and it pretty much fixed the problem instantly. Pretty expensive for just being a piece of plastic, but much nicer looking and higher quality than I could have built myself.
"works great -deflects the wind" 12/09/11
Sturdy and seemingly built to last, this fairing does what it is supposed to do - deflect the wind. My racks hummed a bit with out it at certain speeds and after putting this fairing on I no longer have that problem. I have used mine now for 2 years and it is still holding up. A few of the contact pads are coming off - but they can be replaced easily.
"If you have a Yakima roof rack, YOU NEED THIS!" 11/08/11
I put my new Yakima rack system on my 2008 Honda Element without the fairing. What a terrible mistake! Drove it for one day and then ordered the fairing. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Now I do not even notice that I have a roof rack. Not to mention it looks awesome too!
"Cut down wind noise about 70.354%" 09/19/11
Knew it wouldn't get rid of all my rack noise. But it did get rid of most of it. Can really tell a difference before and after. If you never take the racks off then it is very much worth it in my opinion. Also makes the car look better.
"Very Pleased with the Yakima Fairing" 08/07/11
Although there was some minor assembly required, it looks very nice and helps with the wind noise on the roof rack. You should probably also order the Yakima SKS Locking cores and the SKS Lock Housing. Two of each are needed to secure your Fairing and they do not come with the fairing.
