The BigStack's narrow profile takes up the least amount of rooftop space and carries up to four boats on their sides. It's padded to protect your boat and vehicle, and the steel-reinforced arms fold down when not in use. Last but certainly not least, the word “stack" makes you think of delicious pancakes. What more could you possibly need?

Excellent system to carry kayaksI bought these to go on top of my 2001 Camry and they work wonderfully. I've hauled multiple 10'-12' recreational kayaks now with no problem. I can carry 3 at a time on my car (max 165#). The included straps are excellent with rubber shields so you can throw them over your boats and they won't break the window on the other side. The boats don't move when everything is cinched down . . . no need for bow/stern tie downs, although I would use them if going on the highway for long distances. If you do plan to carry more than 2 boats, I suggest buying an extra set of straps (one for each side of the BigStack).

This is the most cost-effective soultion for multiple yaks!Having lost two pick-up trucks, by way of ridding myself of my last boyfriend I found myself suddenly with two 11ft. yaks and no transport to the river. Not good for your psyche - at all! So, I bought a Nissan X-Terra. Next step, find a kayak rack that does not cost more than the new truck payment! Yakima Big Stack fits the bill. It's way less expensive than both the J style racks and the roller/saddle combos, and it allows you to transport up to 4 kayaks using only one rack set-up. Provided your roof racks are wide enough All the boats get loaded on their edge and tied on using the same two tie-down straps that are provided with the rack. 4 yaks might require an extra set of straps, a
