steel shank vs nylon shank for max sole stiffness/stability ?
Asked by: not so
Hiya, thanks for your question! Steel shanks offer more stability and protection (i.e. protection from underfoot bruises and punctures) but they are heavy and can transfer hot and cold easily. Nylon shanks don't get as cold or hot as fast and provide durability without adding weight, but they are not as good as protecting from rocks and sharp objects.
If you are looking for maximum stiffness and stability and you don't care about weight or temperature, a steel shank is a better choice. Hope this helps!
