The Wild Country Rock Set # 9 - 14. The original curved nut and probably the best selling piece of pro' ever, Wild Country Rocks have had a radical makeover to bring them back to the forefront of technology.

As the ‘building blocks' of any rack it is imperative that the form and function of Rocks was as effective as possible, and considering the original design had changed little in 20 years it was felt that it was about time to re-invigorate the designs to make sure they were as cutting edge as the climbers who would utilize them.

The parameters of this process were to look at size, shape, weight and performance to see whether and how we could influence each of these to produce a better product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge Size Range & Colors Scheme = Very Useful You are probably looking at these wondering "what should my first set of nuts be?" Well, to be honest, the best nut set depends on the type of rock you have at your local crag. These smooth and well tapered nuts place best in smooth rock, such as the quartzite in Devil's Lake, WI. I also used them extensively in Smith Rock, OR - the opposite of Devil's Lake with highly craggy, pocketed, textured rock. Here the WC Rocks were less friendly to place. Do keep in mind these have a massive size range which can make life easier if you are trying to avoid buying hexes. Also, the WC color scheme matches up with DMM, so you can mix and match gear and only have to memorize 1 color per size range!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best nut for rock with not much texture I LOVE these rocks! Compared to other nuts of the similar basic shape (like BD and Omega Pacific), I find have a slightly different bend in the nut to create a better placement. The larger sizes make great anchors (and lead placement) and I believe WC is one of the only companies that makes rocks this large. If you are climbing on basal or smoother rocks like the NW and NE, then you can't go wrong with these. Also, they have a higher strength rating the the non-european country overall (most are 12kN, even most of the little ones).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice plus to have these hanging from your harness. I carry a set of Wild Country rocks, as well as a set of Super rocks. It seems that all of the curved or radically tapered nuts are more difficult to place and more likely to become stuck. I do find the Super rocks very useful in flaring cracks. Wild Country has also sized the rocks so that when you turn a nut for a sideways placement, it is the same size as the next smallest nut, which makes for nice consistency in size of placements. A nice set to add to your gear. Of course you should only buy them from Moooooooosejaw.
