"Wonderful boots!" 01/21/11
These boots are amazing. I've had them a couple of years now and they definitely hold up. They got me thru my trip to Peru and the Inca Trail this past December with my feet and body intact! Great ankle support, traction and shock absorption. And they're waterproof to boot (hah!) which was a must have for hiking during the Peruvian wet season. Definitely take time to break them in. I wore them to work a couple weeks before taking hiking the first time, and I'm sure glad I did. But after they were broken in a bit, they were very comfortable.
"If you can get it at 50% off, buy 2 pair." 04/23/08
I'm pretty happy with these boots overall. They've made a number of trips through the DWGNRA and served me well. They provide good support, shock absorption, waterproofness and traction. On slippery rocks however, they lose traction fast. To be fair, so do most other boots. Other than that, the only gripe is the unroomy toebox and the fact that they are made in China. Overall a good boot but there are better out there. However, if you can get it at 50% off like I did, then it's a spectacular boot for the money.
"These boots were made for walking!" 03/24/08
To break in my new boots, I took them on one day hike and then went straight to the real test a three day thirty mile loop. The terrain was varied with many mountains and the most water crossings I've ever seen on a trail. And, I'm pleased to report that these boots definitely stood up to the challenge. It rained over 12 in. during my trek and my feet stayed warm, dry and smelling like roses. Okay, maybe not roses, but honestly, the boots are great. Waterproofing was awesome - not the slightest hint of a blister and uber-comfy! I highly recommend these boots which have also been rumored to have magical powers when worn south of the Equator during summer months with 31 days.
"break em in first" 09/29/07
good boots, after they're broken in... i bought them a week before a trip and did not have enough time to break em in thus leading to wicked bad blisters 2 days into the trip good new though, by the end they were super comfy and now i love em!
"Awesome boots. Highly recommended." 09/10/07
I love these boots! They run true to size, with more than enough room in the toe box and no heel slippage espeically when using the extra lace loop. I typically have tons of trouble finding boots that fit me correctly. I've tried Asolo, Merrill, and Montrail but I'm sold on Vasque. These boots are comfortable from the first time on. I hiked with them for the first time this past weeked -- a rough, hilly 7 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail -- and they required no break-in. No blisters, no sore feet!
"Vasque usually means quality and longevity." 08/08/07
So far really good! I haven't had the chance to run through puddles or hike a snow field...but they've been pretty comfy in desert hiking. A little heavy...what good boots aren't...and the tongue on one of them keeps slipping a little to the side. Weird back-slanted tread on the heel, doesn't really seem to be negative. The hard rubber protecting the toes is awesome...a lightweight sub for steel-toed boots. I think we'll be a pretty good match.
"I hope you like wrapping paper!" 07/16/07
After I started wearing this boot, I found a dog that had a 45,000 reward on it, won a new car from a sweepstakes, started dating a guy that looks like a climber version of a Ken-doll, married the ken-doll-climber-guy, and am now the successful CEO of a multi-billion dollar wrapping paper company. But seriously - they keep your feet SUPER dry on the trail. Trust me - I was standing in a puddle when I found that dog, and I didn't get wet at all...
"I LOVE THE MADNESS!!!" 06/28/06
Okay. Now I have reeally been hoping that these would come in early even though I knew that the ship didn't sail until friday. But, just because Im a little nuts sometimes, I like to make bets with myself. And as you may know from my other mj reviews, I have been batteling a stomach flu. Well, my bet was that if I get my boots before I have to leave for big south fork which would be on thursday, then by the trip I would feel one hundred and 56,000% better! (I made it a little unrealistic merely because I didn't think I would get my boots 2 days early since they were shipping from the vasque warehouse and I didn't want to let myself down). But, as I glanced down this afternoon walking into my
