Rated 3 out of 5 by from Soles cracked too soon My first pair, made in Italy, lasted 13 years. This pair, made in China, 8 years old, now leak water thru soles cracked horizontally at the ball of the foot. I do short weekend hikes mostly on dirt trails and occasionally on rocky trails. I am now 71 and I thought this pair would be my last. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vasque is the best I had an old (almost ancient) pair of vasque boots that had a sole separation failure, both at the same time. The tread and the leathers were still in great shape. They replaced them with the new Sundowner GTX. I am working on getting them broken in now. What great customer service and I like the way they stand behind their product and name!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Mine are 20 years old! Honestly will last a lifetime. I purchased these boots in 1996, 20 years ago! I was in my 20s then. It's true. These boots are nothing short of amazing. They are still going strong today even w/ the original laces. They've seen from east coast to west coast, from Acadia National in ME to the Redwoods in CA and up into British Columbia salmon fishing. They've lasted through streams, several day outback backpacking trip, and simple day hikes. My husband also has these boots and his are older than mine and still in great shape, I'd say perfect shape really and he is much rougher than I. You will never purchase another boot in your lifetime. I don't back many products but these boots are #1 of 4 products that I'll put my name on. Such great quality - the best product, quality, fit, comfort, entire package I've ever seen - thanks Vasque, truly great. Sorry I can't upload photos - I'm not a cell phoner and don't want to dig through SD cards. They are incredible though. Don't worry about walking through water and muck either as your feet will remain dry. I've never once in 20 years ever had any problem w/ my Vasque hikers. Love them! Even developing flat feet and plantars fasciitis recently hasn't shelved my Vasques as I can comfortably wear them w/ just hiking socks. All my other shoes have to be replaced w/ ugly orthos or inserts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cliff Hanger I still have my original Vasque boots from @1990. Three sets of laces and $25 out of pocket for a retread do not compare to the thounsands of miles I have logged. They have served me well all over the world. On one occasion I had to dye them black, but with avid wear, they are no worse for wear. I just purchased two new pair and am anxious to introduce my daughter to Vasque. I do not understand the recent 25% jump in price and the jury is still out as whether or not the Made inc China version will live up to expectations, but I will let you know. . . thus. . . .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bait and switch I bought these boots based on a recommendation from a friend that had an older pair, and loved them. I was not aware of the history of the manufacture location and the associated changes. I thought I was getting great hiking boots, but instead I got an extremely uncomfortable boot that I can't break in, and would not think of wearing hiking. I have had these boots for a while and thought the problem was my feet. I kept them because of their reputation, hoping one day they would get better. I was looking for new hiking boots this morning, and found some reviews with similar situations to mine, and I realized it was not my feet that is causing the issue. When vasque cheapened the boot they should have changed the name not the 3 letter code that no one pays attention to. Vasqe will not be included in my search for new boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Huge waste of money Years later, I still could not break these things in. Your feet will break in long before the boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase I bought my boots in 2016 and wear them close to everyday for my job. They are amazing. I love these boots. Great choice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth it :( Since they switched their production line to China the quality of this shoe has gone down tremendously.
