Great Creek Crossing ShoeI'm a big Vasque fan. These are my third pair, the first being 25 year old Italian made Sundowners that are still going strong. I just got back from an overnight 7.5 mile loop with about 15 creek crossings in Pisgah National Forest in NC. These shoes worked great. I have slipped and gone in the water at some point the last three times I was there but this time there wasn't even a wobble even with a 25Ib pack. I was also too lazy to change my shoes between crossings but with some strategic duct tape placement on blister prone areas they did fine on land too.
Thanks for the question. These shoes are not specifically designed for underwater wear, but for hiking in wet environments. The pros of these shoes is that they drain water well and are very lightweight, both good attributes to have in a water aerobics shoe, but I would not recommend them for the job because they are not designed to be continually submerged in water for long amounts of time.

I am tired of ruining my shoes at mud runs. How would these hold up?

That's the worst! With the Vibram drainable sole and fast drying upper, I think these shoes would hold up pretty well in a mud run. They are made to handle slippery socks and wet hiking/paddling conditions so I think you've met your match.
