If you haven't heard of GORE-TEX by now, you've probably been living under a rock. And that would make sense, because living under a rock is probably the only place where you wouldn't need the durable waterproof and windproof protection that GORE-TEX fabrics offer. So when you're ready to venture out from under your rock, arm yourself with the comfortable protection of GORE-TEX.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from boots may look tough, but have no balls! i can't rate these boots as total crap for one reason: if you just wear them casually they may hold up. i put 400 miles on these things and the soles on both boots split all the way across and the entire depth of the sole! very disappointing to say the least. i've never had a more comfortable pair of boots, or shoes for the matter, on my feet. they were an abosolute joy to wear, but if you do alot of backpacking get somethin else. these will not hold up! i'm not the only one with particular issue. do some research. and i have nothing but praise for moosejaw. they did everything they could have when my boots blew out! love the madness!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They are comfortable, competely waterproof but not durable I have had these boots for 2 years putting on probably 300 miles onto them. I have hiked on trail, off trail, and backpacked with them multiple times in places ranging from the Grand Tetons to the Grand Canyon and everywhere in between. Although the waterproofing and the Gor-tex liners are bombproof this boot is not. After 300 miles the soles of these boots started cracking right underneath the ball of my foot. Do a little research on these boots and you will find this is a common problem. Don't trust reviewers that get them out of the box, look at them and say they are durable. After 2 years and hundreds of miles in these boots I can tell you they are not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flagship boots This flagship backpacking boot by Vasque does it all---hiking, climbing, and of course, backpacking. "Why is so heavy," some gripe. Well. A wee over three pounds is not heavy, unless if you're a wuss. Plus, as aforementioned, 'real' boots have some heft to kick your way through scree and talus and to prevent hike-ruination by protecting your feet from rolls, shocks, and marmots. If you've ever used a 'too light' product, you'll understand what I'm ranting about. Remember, real outdoorsy types of yesteryear prefer the lovely musk of leather. They also manage to keep your feet warm and dry to boot.,,,,Best part? Got these babies for free from Moosejaw rewards. Love the madness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot, glad I bought a pair. I bought my pair back in June '08. Since then I have worn them for casual use and in extreme conditions. On pavement they seem rather stiff, but on a trail they are great. These boots fit me perfectly which was the main reason I purchased them. They provide a good amount of ankle support and seem rather durable. I did a pull through portage on a canoe trip that was about 1/2 mile going through a stream about 1'-2' deep. My feet got wet, but my ankles and feet were perfectly fine after stumbling, twisting, and guessing my way down a stream filled with odd shaped and sharp rocks and branches. Glad I bought these and I am looking forward to many more years of abuse... err... use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good boots, if you're staying on the trail and avoiding all hard objects. Overview - Good boots, but serious durability issues with the leather used in the '06 model don't know about '07. Not recommended for off-trail use or for extended backpacking trips. Background Bought these boots in May 2006, used them extensively over two summers for work and play in the northern Rockies. I'm a biological field technician, so I spent many hours in these boots for work and then scrambled around the mountains on my days off. Fit I have slightly wider feet than average, and these boots were a great fit for my feet. The broke in with minimal discomfort and never caused any blisters. Good ankle support, despite lower height of the uppers. Waterproofing The leather

Rated 2 out of 5 by from typical Vasque durability.... I love Vasque boots, but their quality just sucks. The last two pair (different styles) both lasted 14 days before being demolished. But I keep going back to Vasque because they fit my feet so well--very comfy and I have never had a blister.,,,,Well this year I tried this boot. 3 weeks after getting back from my hiking trip I still have no feel in a couple toes and now am going to the doctor. I never noticed anything during the trip, just the day I finished. My feet have been killing me ever since, ,,,,Durability is still a Vasque issue. Don't expect them to last too long

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vasque Wasatch GTX - Protect your footsies with the best! The Vasque Wasatch GTX is one of the most comfortable, yet sturdy well-built boots on the market. I put almost 250 miles on them before I ever got the first hot spot / blister. I broke them in on a trip to the Grand Canyon hiked 14 miles of the South Rim and back, along with 2-1/2 miles down the South Kaibab Trail and they held up great - No hot spots, no rubbing. Extremely comfortable, lots of grip power, great ankle support all combine to make a great well-fitting boot. Plenty of toe room and heel support - Buy It !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your feet will love you. And you love them, right? Do it! Oh my, how comfy they are! Pulled these suckers out of the box and slipped them on my feet and they were stiffer than Herman Munster, but they took very little time to feel right. By the end of the first day they were almost there, by the end of the second full day of wear they felt great. So far these have kept my feet dry when I step in puddles and allowed me to nimbly navigate nasty ice patches. Did I mention they look great, too? Well they do!
