"Seriously durable"  11/29/11

I have backpacked all over west TX, Arizona, and New Mexico in these boots. They handle snowshoe duty pretty well, have been polished and worn to work with business attire (maybe a little dorky), and have lasted a long time. My favorite thing about these boots are the absence of seams along the sides of the boot. Always the number one thing to rip and need constant shoe-goo in all of my previous hiking boots. As long as they continue to make these, these boots will be the only hikers I will ever wear. Oh yeah, the GTX rocks and is waterproof after 3 years.

"Good shoes for all purpose"  06/30/11

owned these about a year now and have used them in the desert in Nevada, the mud of Florida, and the snow in the Dakotas. Use them both for backpacking and for casual wear, using Superfeet green insoles. I Sno Seal them every three months since I'm really hard on them. I wish they had a rubber toe cap as mine have gotten scratched up a bit on rocks, but otherwise I have no complaints. With the Sno Seal I've been out in snow for 6 hours and my feet stayed dry. Around town they're as comfortable as a pair of boots can be. With care they should last years. They are a bit heavy but, hey, they're boots.

"Bomb proof. No wear in time...Maybe I'm the exception."  04/08/09

My boot has the toe-protector, which I actually really liked. But yeah, this boot has worked great. When looking for a boot, I probably tried on 10 pairs and returned 2 pairs. Once I tried this baby out, my never-ending journey of boot-searching was finally finished. Because of my lack of decision, I only had 2 weeks to break them in. And when I say breaking them in, I say that lightly. I'm a grad student and so my break-in period consisted of me studying at my desk and walking from my car to my class. After my 4 day hiking trip, I only had one blister on the inner pad of my foot. So yeah, I thought they performed great.

"Good, quality boots, but long break in time."  03/23/09

At first wearing these boots around town I was amazed at the comfort. But, I wore them on a 20 mile backcountry trip and they rubbed some blisters, which is not out of the ordinary on a first trip. Since then, I've logged aboue 50 miles on them and they are just starting to feel broken in. Also, these are extremely waterproof. I have walked across ankle deep streams with my feet dry as a bone. All in all, good buy.

"Good boots, but could be improved"  07/31/08

Very heavy, but that is expected from a backpacking boot. Have good soles and good traction and are very waterproof. The leather on the ankles is on the soft side and end up not giving much support on off camber terrain. Other than this, there are good boots that will probably last for many more years.

"Probably won't buy Vasque again."  06/12/08

A little on the heavy side. Very waterproof. Runs narrow and smaller than normal. I have logged over 50 miles on them and they still need more break in time. I get blisters on my heels from 8 mile hikes. I'm afraid to take them on a mulit-day backcountry trip. Made in China.
