Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boot I work at Philmont Scout Ranch, the largest youth camp in the world, with backcountry of over 137,500 acres. There is no other boot I see more than the Vasque Breeze. I too have a pair. I think they are a wonderful shoe for a trekker who is looking for something to get them through. Personally now, with more experience, I may choose elsewhere, but I can always rely on my pair. If you ever doubt the waterproofing in this shoe, or any shoe, i did, fill it with water, and wait 24 hours. if you see any wetness on the outside, get it resealed, or contact Vasque. I doubted mine, however, mine turned out to be just fine, i just needed rain pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If boots were like mustaches, these would be Magnum PI's. When I first got these, I was skeptical, I did not know much about hiking boots, or what brands were available, but i was recommended these so I went ahead and got a pair. I made the right choice. I went through snow water, dirt, mud, cheetos, and they kept me dry and moving, thanks to the gore-tex inside the boots. I go the second pair not because he other fell apart, but because my feet grew, and i needed a size up. Again, they preformed flawlessly. However, if you manage to get water above the boots top, you will get soaked boots (they dry out fast though.) this is a great boot, and if you need one, i would defiantly recommend this boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turns me into the 'Energizer bunny' They are awesome. Have only been hiking once to break them in... well, I planned the hiking trip before putting them on in anticipation of breaking them in. Upon putting them on, they felt already broken in! A lot of room for the wigglement of my toes, good breathability, nice lace up system. During this hiking trip, I decided to test them a bit and put my boot into the water about half way... it felt cold (mountain stream), but it didn't feel wet.. AT ALL. Obviously, if you submerge the boot, your feet will get wet. As long as you are not trying to walk across the Mississippi River, you should be fine! All in all, freaking awesome boots!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple Yet Exceptional I've had these boots for about 7 years now and they have seen an incredible amount of use. After all this time the DWR (durable water repelent) has begun to wear off the outer layer of the boots. However, I should have long ago retreated them with a nikwax type substance. The traction is still great, the comfort has only gotten better, and the functionality is still phenomenal.,,,,I need to declare that I am a member of the Gore Mountaintechs community, meaning I sometimes receive Gore-Tex and or Windstopper gear to test and review. That being said I purchased these boots long before joining this program and I would make the same decision today.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great boot...this is my second pair! I absolutely love these boots. I've got a steel plate in my ankle, and have tried umpteen pair of boots trying to find one that didn't beat me up. After much search, got a recommendation of these, tried them out and have been in hiking bliss ever since. ,,,,Break in time was near zero, did an easy 10-15 mile hike straight out of the box to help them along and no blisters, discomfort anything. I've worn them in sandy desert hiking in West Texas, to scree in Colorado, to ice and snow (with crampons) in Northern Arizona in the winter. I even managed to hang up a crampon and gore a hole in the toe of my last pair, and they still remain waterproof!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, comfortable, but still good ankle support I was looking for a lightweight boot to compliment my heavy mountaineering boots. Something to use for day-hikes and weekend backpacking trips. These boots save weight by replacing parts of a full leather boot with nylon see picture. They have a study sole, while having uppers that feel like I am wearing a tennis shoe, not a hiking boot. When I got distracted staring at nature and trip over stuff on the trail, they still provided enough ankle support that I did not turn an ankle even with a 25lb pack on. I wouldnt do a 60lb pack and a 50 mile trek in these, but they are great for the short distances most of us sane weekend packers do.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not satisfied I'm not sure why Vasque boots always get high ratings. I bought these because you can get them in wide widths, which only a few brands offer for hiking boots. At first I liked them, but that changed quickly after my first few hikes. For starters, I don't like the fit & support in the heel/achilles area. I find it very uncomfortable. Also, I hate how these have such an elevated heel area. It brings you much higher off the ground. Maybe I just wear my Vibram Five Fingers too much, but there's something valuable about being able to feel what's beneath you. I mean, would you want to go hiking in high heels, even if they had maximum cushioning and support?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre The first thing to go will be the seams on either side of the toe box. I'm a big guy so the rest of this might not happen to you but around 500 miles I started losing chunks of rubber of the bottoms as if they had dry rot. Before I could get to a decent sized town I was walking on a bare plank and the nails had poked through the sole and rubbed holes in my foot. ,,I know these are light hikers but I replaced them with a pair of Garmont light hikers and in addition to having the rubber toe box that should really be on any shoe you plan on wearing into the woods they made me feel like I had been wearing tissue boxes on my feet before.
