A must when sports climbing in the USA - easy to use, could be a bit more stable @ max lengthI am from Europe (Germany) and was a bit surprised when seeing the first bolts of american sport routes often are not only high, but sometimes even above difficult parts of the routes. ,,,,For this situation, the beta stick is the perfect "ready-to-use" solution. Well adjustable, easy to understand and use, it is just right. We have the short version which was always long enough for us.,,,,It could be a bit more stable when the thinnest part is extended. Apart from that, only the price could be lower - but actually I think it is acceptable. ,,,,A clipstick is definitely a must here in teh US, and teh betastick is the comfty uxury version of it.

emergency clipping onlyOk,. so we were headed to Red rock Canyon and my Squid on the giant painter's pole was not coming with.......so I got the beta stick.......it fits in a suitcase. That is great. BUT it is fussy about which biners wit will take, so we had to use one person;s draws at the first clip all week long, and the clip loosens over time, making it less helpful with every passing use. Unlike the Squid, it cannot retrieve a draw, and it would be tough to hang a rope on a draw already up, though I bet one could find a way using the silly hold-your hold-cleaning -brush-velcro. So it kept us safe, but I would never take it to the crag given the choice to take Squid.

this thing rocks! The "compact" model (the cheaper of the 2) is freaking awesome. I used to just use branches and tape cause i didnt want to carry around a painters pole, but this easily straps on (or goes in) a pack and is a dream to use. Sure, sometimes you have to use the velcro strap if you are using a biner with a really strong gate, but so what? 95% of the time I dont have to use it. And when I do I dont complain... cause its not a big deal. You can clip the rope to pre-hung draws, and it has a plastic "clip" so you can hang it on your harness to help hang the draws on your project if you're into that sort of thing. I've been using it for months, regularly, with no troubles. LOVE IT.

Great concept that is actually a POSI thought that a collapsible stick clip was the best idea ever...I can fly with it, and strap it to my pack for hiking. It collapses to a small size, but that's about all. The main issue is that the spring arms won't hold any of my carabiners open, neither wire gate or regular. There is a way to get around the beta stick not doing it's only job, which involves using the velcro to assist. But on my first use, high in the Sierras, both the velcro broke and now the head spins freely and won't tighten. I currently own a $70 lightning rod. No word from Trango about warrant yet.

Great Stick Clip, REALLY AMAZING BOULDERING BRUSHI've been taping tooth brushes to the end of various sticks for a lot of my life, but with this handly little device, those days of looting foliage are over! The brush attachment for this thing its just amazing and I take it bouldering with me every time. Not only can I clean those "TOO HIGH TO REACH" holds, but I can use the brush to explore high holds and see how good they are/where the sweet spot is etc. I don't go to the boulder fiend without my beta stick.

Easy to Use!!!I'm just a begginner in climbing. I like having a stick to clip that first (and sometimes second) bolt. I just don't feel like free soloing when I can barely do a 5.10a. The beta stick is very easy to use for clipping. And it even comes with a brush to boot!!!

The specifications list two different sizes: 21" and 27". Which is it? I know Trango makes 2 sizes, reaching out to different lengths. I want the longer of the two. Which one is this?
