The Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag is a book bag for hauling books, laptop, waterbottle and so much more. Available in a range of four different sizes, all you have to do is choose the colors, then stuff it chock full of the things you'll need for the school, work, or run-of-the-mill day. Internally there are organization pockets for all the small things, from pens to phone to charger. There is even a Napoleon side entry pocket (not available on XS) for the quick grab of an item without opening the flap. Close the flap with the two buckles, sling it over your shoulder, and secure it with the removable cross strap (sorry, XS doesn't get this either). Bike, walk, or slink your way around town, with all your stuff close by your side.

Start riding to work and buy this bag - you will be thrilled!I am loyal, this is my second Tumbuck2, I got my first in 1995 and still have it. I bought a medium and use it every day to bike to work. I like when people reference their physique, so here goes; I am a petite 5ft 2 & 1/2in gal (YES, that 1/2in does matter!) & the size is not too big for me (i was worried at first). I can fit all the crap I need into it; books, notebooks, lock, lunch, extra layer, snacks (super important), and way more. The 2 internal pouches for water & coffee are key. I have not even attached the cross body clippy thing yet and the bag stays mostly put as I ride. Also, the main strap cincher thing is killer & makes adjusting the length of the strap super easy. Get this bag & bike to work! :)

Nice messenger bag, but not for carrying a laptop.I bought this bag primarily to carry my large laptop computer, to replace an aging back pack. With that in mind, I use it for dragging my computer and other stuff to and from the office. I love the styling of the Timbuk2 classic messenger, but frankly a messenger bag is just not comfortable when weighted with computer, power brick, mouse, water bottle, etc. You get it. One strap just does not distribute the weight well. In addition, the strap crosses your chest, so it makes access to your jacket breast pockets a little cumbersome.
The construction of this messenger is well done and seems quite rugged. However, there is no padding to protect your laptop from bumps, or heaven forbid a drop, so your computer won't survive a beating, but the bag sure will. On the plus side I do like the quick adjustable strap which is slick and works very well.
In summary, if you want to carry papers, books, other lightweight stuff, then the stylish classic messenger is a good choice. However, as a bag to carry your laptop and related gear, I recommend a backpack instead.

Good features but fit is offIt is my first messenger bag. I bought the small and wish I chose a bigger one. It doesn't stay on my back very well either. I like the features though. Stylish and multi-functional.
