If you haven't heard of GORE-TEX by now, you've probably been living under a rock. And that would make sense, because living under a rock is probably the only place where you wouldn't need the durable waterproof and windproof protection that GORE-TEX fabrics offer. So when you're ready to venture out from under your rock, arm yourself with the comfortable protection of GORE-TEX.

DisappointmentThis is my 3rd pair of Timberland boots. While happy with my first pair (lasted me roughly 8 years of light hiking and day-to-day use). I've been disappointed in the diminished quality of the two boots I've purchased since then, including this boot. My use has not changed, but issues that didn't appear in my first pair until having the boot for 6 or 7 years began appearing one or two months after purchase. The toe cap is pulling away from the leather, the EVA midsole is beginning to gap from the leather and the lace-locks are loose and seem like they could come out. If you're considering these boots, I'd highly recommend looking at other brands and other boots of a similar price.

Good qualities but poor qualityI had been searching for a good light-weight hiking boot and found these. Loved the leather exterior, gor-tex, light weight, comfort and they seemed rugged but I don't think I would buy again. The stock laces don't stay tightened for very long on the trail. They constantly come loose and require re-tightening. Not a huge deal. I can switch those out. But during my second hike in these guys, I stopped to tighten the laces again and one of the metal clasps for the laces broke off. Again, not a huge deal. I skip that loop and it seems to be working but I paid a decent amount for these and thought I was getting something solid here. I'm hoping some different laces help but I wish I had bought something else instead.

I thought these were great and lasted a long time.I owned a pair of tens, they were a bit big for me but lasted forever. I owned them for five years and the only reason I bought new boots was because one of the eyelets snapped off after that long. They are very water proof and quite comfortable. I walked many hundreds of miles in these boots and would recommend them. They're super cheap too...
