The Therm-a-Rest Xlite Max SV Sleeping Pad is a quick inflating air mattress for three season backcountry camping. When you're on the trail, ultralight gear is a treat for your shoulders and back, and so is a good nights rest. With the new SpeedValve™ your mattress is inflated pretty darn quick, not just lifting you up with some cushy air, but providing much needed warmth against the cold ground with reflective ThermaCapture™ Barrier technology. In the morning, that same SpeedValve™ allows the pad to deflate ultra quick, so feel free to sleep in a bit longer, camp won't take as long to pack up.

ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

5 Stars - No Doubt about itBeen using the XLite MAX SV for our latest outings. WOW! Why didn't someone think up the Speed Valve sooner. Fast and efficient. The mattress itself is pretty much the same as the original XLite, at least I can't tell any difference, it has always been a great sleeping pad, light weight and comfortable. They like to say it packs up to the size of a water bottle, but seriously, roll it into your sleeping bag and you'll never even notice it.

Great...while it lastedI bought this pad about a month ago and loved the combination of comfort and light weight. The speed valve was ok, but seriously how hard is it to blow up a mattress? On our first trek out it was super comfortable, for about an hour. Turns out the base of the nozzle had a slow leak so it wouldn't fully hold air for more than 20 minutes. Needless to say I spent the entire night filling up the pad, slept for maybe 90 minutes total, and returned it as soon as I got back to civilization. Good thing we were only out for two days. For the high price this thing should be bomb proof.

Its too easy to use.Having been a long fan of the neoair mattresses I was interested to try out the new speed valve.
The comfort and warmth are identical to my old Xlite Neoair so lets not dwell on that aspect. Although, I do think its "quieter", something thats never bothered me.
I was blown away by how easy it is to inflate. the SpeedValve is so easy to get the pad ready to use. I add one or 2 puffs on the standard valve to get it right to where I like it. I like that I could still use my pump sack, for some windy situations I could see that happening. But leaving it behind saves more pack space.
All in all its a major improvement on inflation time over every other sleeping pad I've used yet.
So my favorite part is honestly deflating the pad. Squeezing the last space wasting ounce of air out of my pad in the morning is the worst. One simple snap of the clip and this puppy is empty. Making packing up faster and saving valuable pack space.
I'm really hoping for a Xtherm version.

do not buy - terribleI purchased 2 of these mats. One for me and one for my friend as we are walking the bibbulmun track 1000km in Western Australia.
Her mat went down on the very first night. It had come straight out of the packet into her bag, we had looked and looked for a leak. Nothing. As we were on the track, with no way out there was not a solution. we figured that it was probably just faulty.
On the 4th evening my mat suddenly decided it would also join the deflation party. What!!! Now both mats are faulty!!! Very very odd.
We have an amazing tent which does not have any punctures, both mats have never been anywhere but in our tent.
When we arrive home I will be returning both mats!!!!!!

No more huffing and puffing to blow up your pad!We are a married couple who are loyal users of the TAR products. We probably have slept on their pads and used their bags over 200 nights. The NeoAir Series has been our go-to for many years. In fact, we used the X-Lite pads while thru hiking Te Araroa in New Zealand. We were so excited to try out the X-Lite Max SV. We were blown away! The ease of blowing up this pad makes getting to camp even more of blast. My wife always makes me blow up her pad or she will carry the mini pump. Not anymore, she even volunteers to inflate the SV as her camp duty. In the higher elevations when I am struggling to catch my breathe, it is great to get the SV pad blown up with minimal breathes. I can't wait for the X-therm SV!
This pad has all the features of the X-Lite (3.2 R-value, ThermaCapture, Triangular Core Matrix, packs to the size of Nalgene bottle) and just weighs a bit more. But we see the value in the added ounces.
I also love that there is still a release value to let out some air for maximum comfort. But the best feature is the ease of getting all the air out through the speed value. You literally pull it out and boom, deflated. No more laying out on the pad like a spread eagle, pushing and maneuvering body like you are playing twister. You just roll this puppy up in less than a minute. No more frustration or yelling at your partner to hurry up and get packed.
Our only gripe is that we have only one SV pad, so who gets to use it ... Yup, ladies always win!

Fast, light and comfortable! We love these mattresses for a quick camp set-up and a good night's sleep. Out of the box, we thought they might be noisy because of the crinkling of the fabric, but once inflated, this was not an issue for us. We have found them to be warm and comfortable, and we sleep really well on them. We've also experienced a night of slow deflation, but learned that it was because of our not sealing up the speed valve correctly... got it figured out now. We also love how compact and lightweight these mattresses are, and they are as quick to pack away as they are to set up.

Great Pad... why no small?I just received this mattress and despite the rectangle shape it is still not wide enough for my shoulders while leaving tons of wasted space on the length. The new speed valve works as promised and the pad is as comfortable as the original. Still crinkly but noise is manageable and I'd expect that reduce as it wears in. A wider, shorter pad would be perfect and I wonder if the SV tech will be offered in a shorter pad or why it currently isn't.

Poor designi couldnt get a consistent seal with the speed valve, so it slowly lost air throughout he night. A sleeping pad should be VERY simple. I'm returning this one (I love the previous model XLite without the speed valve)
