ThermaCapture

ThermaCapture
ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Winter's Nap When you enter our winter tent your attention is drawn to the heating stove and certain camping features go unnoticed. Those NeoAirDream sleeping mats atop the cots, peaking out from under our blankets provide insulation and comfort when the heat dies out and the minus 15 below temps creek in. Partnered with winter sleeping bags we can’t say enough about this system that that offers the kind of deep sleep that that is mandatory for an energetic follow-up day on the trail. The fact is the the stove and cots are a glamping accessories, the NeoAir Dream mats are plain and simple, a survival necessity. Thank you Therm-A-Rest for a quality product that keeps us in a tent, in the wilds, in the deep of winter. Guess what? They are great in ALL seasons!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Absolute Best Sleeping Pad EVER! My husband and I have had these sleeping pads for 3 years now and have put them to the test. They probably have around 300 days of use and still remain in excellent condition. We have had zero issues with leaks or holes. The soft liner allows you to sleep directly on top of the pad (not wrapped up in your sleeping bag) as if it was your own bed at home... and they are just as comfortable as your own bed. The straps allow for two pads to be tightly connected together, with a minimal gap in between. Hands down, they are our favorite piece of gear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I believe in the dream! I bought this last season and am absolutely in love. We use it for backcountry cabin/shelter trips and deluxe car/boat-camping...it's definitely a bulky deal, but worth it! I have never slept so well in the wilderness. The cover cleans very easily, too, and the stuff sack works so easily to fill the mattress. Some may appreciate the automated pump, but I feel the stuff sack and a little human breath to finish it off work just perfectly without the additional gear. It's a fantastic system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable! I bought this a few months back and I have never been happier. I've returned a lot of other air mattresses, but this one was not only light, but comfortable!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Warm My wife and I purchased two NeoAir dreams in time for the summer camping season for our family. Previously, we slept on box-store big blow up mattresses, but we have had two of these quickly develop leaks, and I thought it was beyond environmentally irresponsible to create such a waste (We will likely rerpurposed the second into a paint throw). The big performance improvement I wanted in our next mattress was warmth and comfort. We tent camp in North America--Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan--and sometimes in late may we have had the temps dip to 30 degrees (F) or so, and the large, blobby box-store mattresses quickly cool their air mass, so that even with a thick sleeping bag BELOW us, I would feel cold at night and rarely sleep deeply. So, the R value of the Dream Time attracted me. Second, I wanted to never feel the ground again, and at 45 years old, can you blame me? Positives: I was surprised at just how soothingly warm the Dream can be. Because of the combination of the upper open-cell cushion above and the separate air chambers below, (and the truly plush soft top) creating a rather thick pad, you are cradled into a rather cuddly sleeping experience. For the normal North Woods summer temps (say, down to 50) and conditions, I really only needed a fair, unzipped sleeping bag on top to sleep deeply. One particularly damp and chilly night, I was still a bit cold, but zipping up my sleeping bag remedied that for the next night. So, for North Woods summer camping, expect more than adequate warmth. Every night since I purchased and used the Dream I have awoken with my muscles limber, relaxed, and zero stiffness. Great! There are a few negatives: The Dream is not in any way self-inflating. The stuff sack doubles as a simple to use, but time consuming way to fill the dream (though I found I needed to add a few human puffs at the end to get the Dream firm enough for me). I would say we have added about an extra 15 - 20 minutes to our set up, and that is something to consider when you are camping with four younger children--probably headed right for the poison ivy. Similarly, folding the Dreams properly at the end takes a bit of time, too. So, in retrospect, I might have looked at Thermarest's self-inflating models. Finally, you really need to store these rather substantial pads outside of the stuff sack to keep the open-cell cushioning from compressing, and so you will need to dedicate some home space. I would like to give 4.5 stars--the knock being set up and storage. Overall, though: Along with the cots we use, this mattress honestly makes me look FORWARD to bed time, so it's done the job well for a car-camping family! You can see a longer review on my blog, if you like. Just find my "campnstuff" blog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cushy I use this system during the snowboard season. I often go on the cheap and sleep in the back of my truck with a shell. I made it thru a 30 below night with no issue and sleep very well on the super cush pad. buy it you will not regret

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! My family bought me the NeoAir Dream for Father's Day last year. Scout camps were wearing on me more and more; there were weekends where I'd only get a few hours of sleep a night. This mattress is making a HUGE difference in the amount and quality of sleep I get at camp. Well worth the investment! Extremely impressed with this mattress! Very comfortable, well built, well designed.

Hi there. Does anyone know the weight and r-value of the Neoair mattress core inside the entire Dream sleeping pad? How does it compare to, say, the Neoair xlite? I'd like to be able to use the core alone for backpacking trips. Thanks so much!

Asked by: Scarlet
Hiya, thanks for your questions! The Neoair Dream is very warm, with a r-value of 6. The core by itself has a r-value of 2.2 and is best for warmer weather. The core, without the slipcover, foam and pump, is basically the same as the Therm-a-Rest Neoair Camper Sleeping Pad. The XLite is a bit warmer, with a r-value of 3.2. It is also lighter, 16oz. The weight for the CORE ONLY is as follows: Large: 1lb, 14oz XL: 2lbs, 4oz Hope this information helps you make a decision!
