ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and durable! Bought this sleeping pad about 2 years ago. The weight and durability of this pad are amazing! The cost is high, but worth every penny. I have used this sleeping pad on 5 separate backpacking trips in the past 2 years that lasted between 3 to 7 days. Each trip had different weather conditions between summer, spring and fall seasons. I was worried that the pad would be too warm in the summer trips. I had no issues with over heating in the summer nights and it works great on the colder nights! I am 6'-0" tall and about 185 lbs. The regular size fit me well, even though I tend to sleep on my side. I would recommend anyone taller or larger than me go with the larger size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally the ability to sleep on my side I've had NeoAir X-Therm for almost three years now and it is hands down the best sleeping pad I have ever owned. It is comfortable, packable, and has greatly improved the enjoyment of both my front-country and backcountry adventures. I'm 6'5", 200 lbs, and have very little "meat" on my bones; I am also a side sleeper. The combination of this has led to many a sleepless night, being too sore to fall asleep due to pressure points. Now, with the NeoAir. I can sleep comfortably and be more rested for more adventure when I wake. I pair this mattress with a Thermarest fitted sheet, pillow, and Ventra Down Comforter for the ultimate in lightweight 3-season nocturnal nirvana.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XTherm XTreme Comfort! I accidentally fell in love with my wife's XTherm when I tried it out on our living room floor. I only meant to lay on it for a short while before supper but ended sleeping for close to 2 hours. You can actually feel your body heat being reflected back into you. I have since spent a couple of nights on my own XTherm in 40 and 30 degree temps and I awoke with no shoulder or hip pain whatsoever. The fact that this little wonder rolls up so small and only weighs about a pound is a huge plus for me as we often find ourselves hiking in the mountains of New Hampshire and western Maine where weight is a serious factor in choosing our gear. The inflation bag is a great idea as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, light, warm I bought this for a 4 night, early-autumn, low-mileage trip in the Enchantments. Low temps were around freezing, and it was plenty warm with the mattress and a 15deg down bag. Like every air-filled mattress I've tried, it takes some fine-tuning to get a comfortable firmness. The material is more slippery than I am used to, and both the mattress and bag tended to follow gravity and slide around the tent. Easily remedied by placing packs/gear to limit the sliding space though. All in all a great investment for my uses, having come from a z-lite sol + old basecamp style mattress combo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light weight and great thermal protection I bought this mattress this summer. My deciding factor was weight and thermal rating. I would have given this mattress 5 stars but I went with 4 as the mattress is noisy when you move. Overall this is an excellent choice for backpackers. I used it on snow with a 20 degree bag and I was more than warm. The only clothing I wore was socks and underwear. I found that if you don't air it up firm it is much more comfortable. If you have a hard time staying warm than this is the mattress for you. It does a great job reflecting body heat back to you. Excellent mattress

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another awesome ultralight piece of gear We are ultra light hikers and big fans of the xlite for almost all of our 3 season use (see my other review) In the colder parts of the shoulder seasons when pad insulation needs a bump up in thermal value we pack our xtherms. Most folks underestimate the importance of their sleeping pads part in the overall sleep system. If you find yourself still cold with enough insulation topside your pad is probably insufficient. The xlite offers the best bang for your buck as far as r-value and weight. Take our advise, you will be hard pressed to find a lighter option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hips don't lie! Being a woman heading into her wonderful forties, I couldn't have been happier when I received this from my other half last year. He knows all too well how cold I get at night in the backcountry; while he barely has a chill. Add to the cold, I tend to turn on my side out of habit and our other therm-a-rest sleeping pad just didn't cut it for comfort and cushioning; waking up with such pains through the night - my poor, boney hips. This pad, not only keeps you warm, it's super comfortable. I love how compact and light it is in my pack (because we all want yo find ways to lighten our packs) and don't listen to anyone that says it's too's nonsense! Now I'm ready for many more years of lying under the stars. Thank you Therm-a-rest!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome mattress! Bought this in 2014 for a Boy Scout Philmont trek. Have used it now 20+ nights (Smoky Mtn, Pictured Rocks NP) and have zero complaints. I mate it with a BA Encampment 15 bag and have never been cold (and I sleep cold). I'm 5'9"/165 lb & side sleep; mattress provides great support under hips & shoulders. Others are critical of the "crinkle" sound of the heat-reflective membrane but this has never bothered me or my tent mates. Since this is not a self-inflating mattress, I recommend practicing with the stuff sack/inflator before you hit the trail.
