ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and durable! Bought this sleeping pad about 2 years ago. The weight and durability of this pad are amazing! The cost is high, but worth every penny. I have used this sleeping pad on 5 separate backpacking trips in the past 2 years that lasted between 3 to 7 days. Each trip had different weather conditions between summer, spring and fall seasons. I was worried that the pad would be too warm in the summer trips. I had no issues with over heating in the summer nights and it works great on the colder nights! I am 6'-0" tall and about 185 lbs. The regular size fit me well, even though I tend to sleep on my side. I would recommend anyone taller or larger than me go with the larger size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Compact! I purchased the regular size pad hoping to save a few inches from the longer version and it fits perfect for my slender 6'2" body (My entire body fits with a couple inches to spare). I was attracted to this product based on its packed size (Easily 6" tall by 4" wide). I have used the pad during cool nights and was glad to have the extra warmth from the thermal material. The pads width is thin so your arms may hang over a bit; this wasn't a huge concern because I tend to be a side sleeper. For the side sleeper the pad was plenty thick (about 2 1/2") to keep you supported and comfortable. The pad comes with two stuff sacks; one that is used to inflate the pad (I also use it as a pillow), and the other is a small sack that everything packs into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally the ability to sleep on my side I've had NeoAir X-Therm for almost three years now and it is hands down the best sleeping pad I have ever owned. It is comfortable, packable, and has greatly improved the enjoyment of both my front-country and backcountry adventures. I'm 6'5", 200 lbs, and have very little "meat" on my bones; I am also a side sleeper. The combination of this has led to many a sleepless night, being too sore to fall asleep due to pressure points. Now, with the NeoAir. I can sleep comfortably and be more rested for more adventure when I wake. I pair this mattress with a Thermarest fitted sheet, pillow, and Ventra Down Comforter for the ultimate in lightweight 3-season nocturnal nirvana.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable in the category My basement gear pile is a testimonial to the search for lighter/warmer/more comfortable, and I think the Exotherm is the embodiment of all three. I purchased an Xtherm R for hiking several sections of the Colorado Trail last summer, as I wanted lighter weight but am too old to sleep on closed cell foam. I was prepared to dislike the Xtherm because I thought it would be too noisy...I was wrong! Not only wrong, but amazed by how comfortable, quiet, and warm it was. In fact, there were several nights with temps in the 50's where the pad actually felt almost too warm underneath, not a bad thing for this generally cold sleeper. My only suggestion is that Cascade Designs produce a short version that is a little wider than the standard 20". That would be PERFECT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget even the best of the rest I've been wild camping for 40 years, started using the original Thermarest at its inception all those years ago. What a dream after those miserable closed-cell mats! But age and arthritis and being 210lbs anyway prompted me to try the Prolite Plus, more for the comfort than R-value, when it came out. Loved it. I tried the original NeoAir but didn't like its width at that time. But before this last winter I bought an Xtherm in the larger size - perfection! It is more stable than the early NeoAirs and great on snow, fabulous insulation. I just got back from 2 weeks in Scotland's far north, slept on it for 2 weeks, never felt tempted to check-in to a B+B for a night off. My friend says she sleeps better on her mat than her own bed, really. Being rather heavier myself I can't say it's perfect, but it's undoubtedly the best I've tried. I have 2 Exped blow-up mats, had one replaced once and the other two times, lost confidence in them as they both came apart inside where I'd sit on them in the tent, the welding coming apart where I'd made contact with the ground repeatedly while making brews and cooking etc. The Xtherm shows no signs at all of this trait so far, and I use it every weekend. Although I've only had it for around 6 months it has seen at least 50 nights in the wilds and I can't find fault.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best night sleep ever Until I bought this pad I would not get a good nights sleep in the backcountry. That is for 40 years. But when I started using this pad two years ago I am usually not the first up anymore. I have used it in all four seasons, down into the teens (F), and have never been uncomfortable. It has worn well. I have over 50 nights with no show of wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super warm and small size & weight I bought this after seeing my friends and am so glad. I backpack all winter and have used this on snow and in a lean to, was super warm and comfortible. It inflates to a nice height and keeps you toasty warm! My only issue is it's a little noisy from the material, but hey if it keeps me warm and comfortible! It comes in various sizes which is great as I'm a small woman and need to keep everything as compact & light as possible! Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried and True I have had this sleeping pad for about 1 1/2 years and absolutely love it. Not only is it lightweight, durable, and comfortable, but it also does a great job keeping me warm. I have camped with this sleeping pad all over the Alaskan backcountry and would recommend it for anyone looking for a 4 season lightweight pad. It packs up to the size of a 1L water bottle and is easy to blow up and decompress.
