Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Base camp bad After hiking the AT and sleeping on a Neoair Trekker for 4.5 months, I joined a trail crew for two months. Weight was no longer an issue, so I brought my XL Luxary Map pad. The NeoAir XLite and Trekkers are comfortable, but switching to this, it felt like I was sleeping on a bed. Hands down the best portable base camp pad I've owned. After trail crew, I used the pad in the back of my truck when I drove across country and when I finally returned to civilization, I slept on this pad for a month before I broke down and bought a bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For sleeping like the dead, low to the ground I bought this for car camping and have spent the last 2 weeks sleeping on it (while ski touring volcanoes and living out of a car)... I didn't believe it was possible to adore an inflatable mattress this much. The fabric is pleasant to touch and feels very durable. The self-inflation works best if you open the valve and leave it alone for 2 hours, but even when I want to inflate the pad immediately, the comfort is well worth the head rush from blowing it up. And don't get me wrong, it takes a good 5 minutes to wrangle the thing back into its sleeve, but it's kinda become a labor of love that I'm happy to perform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from like sleeping at home I bought a luxury map last year, and have used it now for two fire seasons. Of course it doesn't work for the hike in fires, but used extensively for all other times, and love it. I sleep so much better, than I used to on smaller pads.. You can roll over, turn, and don't fall off this thing. And you feel nothing through it... I leave a little air out from being totally inflated and it's great, just enough give to make you feel like you are sleeping at home. This is my 25th fire season and this thermarest makes it so I can still get up and function each day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sleep Away From Home I bought this a year ago and couldn't be happier with the luxury map. My wife and I used it on a camping trip in Newfoundland and were so happy we paid a little bit more to be comfortable. We have since used it many times and have had others sleep on it when they visit. I recommend this thing to anyone I see. If you want a great sleep get this! The only thing I would say is that my wife and I are very skinny so we bought the small, if you can afford it and your not taking this backpacking than I would definitely recommend getting the larger ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LuxuryMap R size I had used it 2 times. I moved from a trail lite mattress and the difference is greatly appreciated comfort speaking. I let it sit to self inflate and close the valve. Then I have to lay on top of it and release some air to get the best pressure for my taste. That proves how efficient the self inflating of it is. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LUXURY INDEED !!! Got two of these to replace my old tandem mattress. And although the old tandem fit my tent floor space perfectly, two of these used with the DOWN COUPLER that Thermarest also sells work just as well (if not better). And now that I've had a chance to use them a few times, I have to say they are most impressive. In my opinion, the comfort rating is a high as it gets (and this is coming from a die hard tent camper with severe arthritis in their hips). The foam is extra cushy and could almost be used without inflation (not recommended though). Once inflated properly, they feel better than a fancy bed mattress with a cushy top. And the Down Coupler adds stability and that little extra softness factor that makes the whole package a delight to use (no shifting, no wadded up sheets). I'm absolutely thrilled with the ensemble and would recommend it to anyone (except ultra-lite backpackers as they're a little hefty for gear minimalists, and Thermarest makes excellent lighter-weight products specifically for that purpose). Usage NOTES: open the valves and let them lie flat for a few hours. The longer you let them self inflate, the less blowing you'll need to do. I left mine (valves open) in the sun for a couple hours and was blown away (pun intended) by how much they self inflated without assistance. At this point I closed the valves and inserted them into the Down Coupler (which was a snap as Thermarest did a remarkable job with the fit of these mattresses to the coupler). I then finished the inflation process with just a few more puffs. REALLY EASY SET UP, REALLY REALLY COMFORTABLE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exellent - used as a regular mattress To find a good mattress in Brasil is a difficult task. Most of them hurt the spine after some months of use. The air mattress has stability that I cant found in most foam used to make mattress. I bought some air mattress in brazilian market. The ergonomic result was good but the quality was bad, as they leak too easy and the rapair was almost impossible, so i decide to import one therm-a-rest, as we dont have a seller here. Result - I'm using the therm-a-rest air mattress for 5 years, sleeping every day and my "low back" don't complains anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decadence and comfort Take a pillow and sleep in this pad and you will feel like in your own bed. I bought this about two years ago and is the best sleeping pad I've ever had since its thickness, support for my back and self inflating features is just awesome. Sure this pad is not meant for backpacking since its packing size is quite big in comparison to a inflatable air pad (which lacks that supportive and comfortable self-inflating "foam") but its so comfortable thath I have brought it with me to short (2-3 days) backpacking trips. Therm-a-Rest just give importance to every single detail in the making of this product, is super super comfortable and in two years of hard using it, the pad is in perfect shape. Josh
