ThermaCapture

ThermaCapture
ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suprisingly Effective in Hammock I bought the RidgeRest SOLite a few months back and tested it out in my Hennessy Hammock over a weekend trip in the Ouachita Mountains. Temps dropped to the low 40s and with this pad and a 35 degree bag, I was able to stay toasty warm. I have the regular size (I'm 6'0" 210) and believe the large would be a better fit for a hammock with the extra width for your shoulders. I did have a little trouble getting the pad to stay flat at first, but once I laid on it for a while it actually contoured to my body. I was pleasantly surprised how effective it was in a hammock

Rated 4 out of 5 by from sacrifice in size but not in weight or value This pad is pretty large when rolled. No way it could fit inside a pack. Strapping it to the outside has never been a bother and I like having easy access for when I want to stop and take a quick rest. Since it is strapped to the pack, it is almost always exposed to the elements but I haven't noticed any significant wear. It stays pretty clean, keeps shape, and always keeps me warm enough for sleep.,,,,I would opt for a warmer mat during the winter. Noticeably warmer at first, but it doesn't hold heat all the way through the night (Although I suppose my hopes are a little high in this idea).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight and very comfy Gotta love a classic! I spend a lot of my time backpacking, and I can say for sure that the RidgeRest is the most common sleeping pad I see on the trail. I've worked for years trying to dial in my sleep system, and have finally found the solution. The SOlite is such a great pad, I've used it in the summer and warmer months with just a bag liner and slept so comfortably, in the winter I combine my RidgeRest with my scout half size pad for a little extra insulation. I would recommend this pad to anyone, it is great for backpacking as well as car camping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Ultralight product, but the best ist the Thermarest Solar This Pad whit my mummy form weight only 114 gr, but the height of the foam was too low, I feel the cool of the ground. the Solar is better for only 144 gr whit mummy form, you have ultracomfort when sleeping and an effective thermo inusulation.,,,,Chart:,,,,,,Solite Solar ,,,,comfort 3/5 4,5/5,,Insulation 3/5 4,5/5,,Price 5/5 4/5,,Weight 5/5 4,5/5 whit mummy form only 1 oz more,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from instant warmth! This mat is light and stays warm all night long! I always take this winter camping! What I like: 1. you feel instantly warm sitting on this where as with air filled mats they get cold eventually 2. it is super light! 3. you don't have to worry about getting it wet since it doesn't really absorb water 4. it won't puncture 5. you never slip down or off this mat 6. it has many uses: use as a seat near the fire without worry of your may becoming unusable due to a stray spark, I use it to create a frame in my 110 L canoe pack, use as a shelf on the water to hold things that don't float while you're in the lake etc... 7. it won't break the bank to replace it What I don't like: 1. it is bulky

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The classic sleeping pad I've seen this exact model, only 20 years older and still holding up. It's the classic sleeping pad. Lightweight and simple, but still protects you from the rocks and roots. If you're one of those who like soft beds and air mattresses it might not be for you. The pad is pretty thin, though it still does a decent job of insulation. The new silver finish on the top is great, but mine has started to rub off a bit on this pad, though I've only had it for a month (though I was using it everyday the entire time). It doesn't hurt the quality of the pad, but it's a bit of a bummer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good low cost sleeping pad Tried this out during an indoor camping trial run on my hardwood floors without heat on (40-50F air temp). A little bulkier than inflatable pads but it's light and would work strapped to the bottom of a pack. Comfort and insulation was good for back sleeping. Was OK for side sleeping but most people will probably get sore in the shoulder/hip areas. Also tried pairing it with a self-inflate pad (on the bottom) and that made the combo real comfortable and warm. Would recommend for the casual camper, especially car campers, who aren't looking to spend too much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong with this pad I chose this pad over an inflatable because of the low price and the fact that it is not prone to getting holes. I bought the regular, and it rolls up pretty large. You're not going to be able to store this inside any pack, you pretty much have to lash it to the outside, but it is very light. The moment you lay down on it, you instantly feel warmer. The foam is also very good at holding its shape, I have stepped on it multiple times and each time it rebounds back into place. My only concern is the size, but considering the price, it's well worth it.
