A Good Winter's NapWhen you enter our winter tent your attention is drawn to the heating stove and certain camping features go unnoticed. Those NeoAirDream sleeping mats atop the cots, peaking out from under our blankets provide insulation and comfort when the heat dies out and the minus 15 below temps creek in. Partnered with winter sleeping bags we canât say enough about this system that that offers the kind of deep sleep that that is mandatory for an energetic follow-up day on the trail. The fact is the the stove and cots are a glamping accessories, the NeoAir Dream mats are plain and simple, a survival necessity. Thank you Therm-A-Rest for a quality product that keeps us in a tent, in the wilds, in the deep of winter. Guess what? They are great in ALL seasons!

So comfortable!I bought this a few months back and I have never been happier. I've returned a lot of other air mattresses, but this one was not only light, but comfortable!

Surprisingly WarmMy wife and I purchased two NeoAir dreams in time for the summer camping season for our family. Previously, we slept on box-store big blow up mattresses, but we have had two of these quickly develop leaks, and I thought it was beyond environmentally irresponsible to create such a waste (We will likely rerpurposed the second into a paint throw).
The big performance improvement I wanted in our next mattress was warmth and comfort. We tent camp in North America--Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan--and sometimes in late may we have had the temps dip to 30 degrees (F) or so, and the large, blobby box-store mattresses quickly cool their air mass, so that even with a thick sleeping bag BELOW us, I would feel cold at night and rarely sleep deeply.
So, the R value of the Dream Time attracted me.
Second, I wanted to never feel the ground again, and at 45 years old, can you blame me?
Positives: I was surprised at just how soothingly warm the Dream can be. Because of the combination of the upper open-cell cushion above and the separate air chambers below, (and the truly plush soft top) creating a rather thick pad, you are cradled into a rather cuddly sleeping experience. For the normal North Woods summer temps (say, down to 50) and conditions, I really only needed a fair, unzipped sleeping bag on top to sleep deeply. One particularly damp and chilly night, I was still a bit cold, but zipping up my sleeping bag remedied that for the next night.
So, for North Woods summer camping, expect more than adequate warmth. Every night since I purchased and used the Dream I have awoken with my muscles limber, relaxed, and zero stiffness. Great!
There are a few negatives: The Dream is not in any way self-inflating. The stuff sack doubles as a simple to use, but time consuming way to fill the dream (though I found I needed to add a few human puffs at the end to get the Dream firm enough for me). I would say we have added about an extra 15 - 20 minutes to our set up, and that is something to consider when you are camping with four younger children--probably headed right for the poison ivy. Similarly, folding the Dreams properly at the end takes a bit of time, too. So, in retrospect, I might have looked at Thermarest's self-inflating models.
Finally, you really need to store these rather substantial pads outside of the stuff sack to keep the open-cell cushioning from compressing, and so you will need to dedicate some home space. I would like to give 4.5 stars--the knock being set up and storage.
Overall, though: Along with the cots we use, this mattress honestly makes me look FORWARD to bed time, so it's done the job well for a car-camping family!

zzzzzzzzzzzzI wanted something nice and warm and comfy for a month long river trip through the Grand Canyon this winter. I have not left on the trip yet, but I can tell you this. I got this pad in the mail, I blew it up (I used the bag, that made things quicker) and I lied down on it and did not want to get up. It felt bed time comfortable, no sense of hard ground beneath me. Just nice soft air and foam and top all this with fleece and I am dashing off to dreamland. Yes, the pad is bigger than my REI Flash. But the flash is for backpacking. I have extra room on a river trip, and I wanted something warm and comfortable. Yes!

Unbelievable comfort. My husband and I have journeyed thru the Ridgerest, Thermorest, air mattresses, and cots in the quest to sleep in reasonable comfort while camping over the last three decades. When we got our mattresses my husband aired his up first on our basement floor. It is an XL since he's 6'4" and 200lbs. We both laid down on it (I'm 5'2" and 150lbs) and nary an elbow, knee, or hip bottomed out. We actually dosed off! Can't say much more than that. We took them on a two week cross country car camping trip and they were fabulous. The covers are lint and feather magnets but it brushes off fairly easily and it keeps your sleeping bag from sliding off of it.
The included stuff sack inflator system was cumbersome and frustrating. We purchased the the torrent battery pump made for these.

Great Sleepingpad for Boney HipsI love this sleeping pad! I have fairly boney hips and am a side sleeper, so I need a little more padding then just an inflatable. This pad gives me the right amount of support I need to sleep comfortably. I let my husband try it for a few minutes and I had to buy him one for his birthday. We snap them together, put it under our two person sleeping bag and it's like sleeping in our bed at home, (complete with the dog sleeping between us) which is nice since we use them almost every weekend in the summer.

Don't leave one sitting by the fireplace.... You will find Santa Claus sleeping the next morning!I picked up two to use for car camping. The first night I recieved the NeoAir Dream Mattress XL, my son and his friend slept on them in the game room. The boys loved the sleeping mats. So I bought two more! I could not be any happier. These sleeping mats are almost as comfortable as my bed at home! ,,Now company is welcome and may "out-last" their welcome.,,Living the "DREAM" in TEXAS.,,

Comfort, Quality and Warmth! This sleeping pad is the king of kings in the sleeping pad world. Therm-a-rest went above and beyond the call to duty when they created the dream mattress, as this guy is a thing of beauty. While it is fairly large and wouldn't work the best in the backcountry because of it's packing size and weight, it is the perfect car camping companion. While I have a few lightweight sleeping pads, this one is like sleeping on a cloud. It is almost as comfortable as my Tempurpedic mattress in my home, with the understanding that it is significantly thinner and has much less memory foam. When I first unpacked it, I was wondering if there was enough memory foam to make a difference, but I think they did a great job without making it way too heavy. The only complaint that I have is the noise, but given the fact that it keeps you that comfortable and warm, I don't complain other than on paper! Thanks Therm-a-rest for making the outdoors that much more comfortable!
