"Good for car camping" 01/30/13

I have had this pad for a few months now and it is quite comfortable to sleep on. Plenty of room, and provides great insulation from the cold ground. It inflates fast and is easy to roll up. It is on the heavy side though, but I knew that before buying. It is probably best for car camping which I do most often. I would want a lighter Therm-a-rest for my next backpacking trip, but I chose this bulkier pad for comfort.

"Great pad for a great night of sleep" 11/12/12

This pad inflates fast and compresses back down easily into its included storage bag. It provides the perfect amount of cushioning and insulation between my Big Agnes sleeping bag (in which it fits perfectly) and my sleeping cot. I have mostly been car camping with it using my cot, but the one night I slept indoors on the floor, it provided just enough cushioning for a great night of sleep.

"Comfortable" 10/04/12

I lived on this sleeping pad for three months and it was comfortable and stayed inflated. It's not the most portable or light weight but if you're car camping or going to be using it for extended periods of time it works great. It held up to the extreme elements that managed to kill most of my other gear. It even saved me from a river that ran though my tent one night. Worked well in hot and cold conditions.

"excellent pad, very durable, extremely comfortable, a bit bulky though" 09/27/12

slept on it every day for 6 months and never once woke up with a stiff back or neck. Now i take it camping with me. it rolls up and packs down smaller than traditional foam sleeping pads. A thermarest is definitely worth the extra weight. Its like having your mattress from home.

"Now that we are older, we needed more comfort." 06/26/12

We used to hike/camp and enjoyed the ultra light therma-rest pads; but things change, we got older and wanted more comfort,and a wider platform. These fit the bill perfectly. They are easy to inflate, deflate, and give us a level of comfort not found regular air mattresses or foam. They hold up great (we had our ultra light for 20 years and gave them to our grandkids!) Well worth the expense.

"Very good air mattress replacement" 01/06/12

I certainly wouldn't take these backpacking, but we used them for a 9 day (sagged) bike trip, and they were amazing. Once you've biked 60 or 70 miles, hauled all your crap to a site and put your tent up, the only thing you want is to lay somewhere comfy...and these are it.

"a bit too heavy" 11/25/11

I've found this to be a relatively heavy pad. I've stopped using it and bought a newer lighter one with rounded edges instead of square ones so I'm carrying less. It also does not really self inflate. If you can give it lots of time it might inflate more by itself but mostly I am having to top up the air myself - otherwise I'll never get to sleep.Out of all the sleeping mats I've had Thermarest is always the most reliable - but for me these days this one is just that bit too heavy.

"The way to go for camping comfort if you dont have room for a full size air mattress!" 06/14/11

I've been using Therm-a-Rests for over 15 years. Since I was a youngin' way back in the boyscouts. I normally use a queen size air mattress for when I go car camping, but if space or weight is a concern I bring my Therm-a-Rest instead. while not as comfortable as a real deal air mattress, it definitely gets the job done. It is certainly leagues better than sleeping on the ground/floor of your tent. I have back issues from a car wreck, so I always bring some sort of bed/pad with me camping. I can say the Therm-a-Rest is extremely helpful with this. I wont wake up with knots all over my back, so I can get up and be ready to take on the day!

"This thing is comfortable!" 05/18/11

I slept on a borrowed one of these and my sleeping bag for a week in the Red, and was able to get up and climb every day with little to no stiffness and soreness. Usually when I camp, I wake up achy and uncomfortable, so it was a welcome treat. I slept like a rock.My partner inflated them with ease (yay self inflater!) and we didn't have a sagging or drooping issue the whole time. Worked great, doesn't pack too large (it isn't tiny though) and I had to buy one for myself. And to think, I was shopping for those super thick heavy ones. This is much better for my needs.

"Comfortable and Light" 04/04/11

I have had this pad for several trips now. The sleep that I have gotten in the back-country since getting this pad has greatly increased. It is also pretty light pad that doesn't add a lot of weight to my pack like most pads this comfortable.

"A little heavy and bulky for the long haul, but the perfect companion for an actual full nights rest" 03/17/11

I have had nothing but great experience with all the ThermaRest products that I have owned over the years. This is the perfect mattress for me to actually be comfortable and insulated from the chill in the ground while not weighing me down much more than my ultra-lite setup. The additional weight is well-worth it when the longevity of comfort is increased on any long distance backpacking trip!
