The North Face Women's Transit Down Jacket is a lightweight down jacket for the daily winter commute. The 550 fill down jacket features a slightly longer length, just past the hips, to keep your upper half content when walking through the city winter-scape. The nylon taffeta shell is abrasion-resistant to protect the down insulation inside and is coated with a durable water repellent finish for water-resistance. The hood pulls up to protect the hair you spent hours on and keep your ears warm, but can also be removed for a different style and mild winters. The quilting pattern throughout holds the down in place to prevent cold spots and also creates a slimming effect.

FEATHERS EVERYWHERE!!!!I purchased this jacket in January. When it arrived I was thrilled at how comfortable and lightweight the jacket is. The problem is the amount of feathers that escape the stitching everywhere. I truly believed after a few weeks of wearing it the feathers would stop coming out. That hasn't been the case at all. FEATHERS do not remain in the jacket and you end up with your clothes being a mess and your car!!! I am very displeased with this North Face jacket, and with the cost you would think it would be of a higher quality. Disappointment is an understatement.... Unless you want to remove feathers from everywhere I would not purchase this item.

Don't Fear the FeathersI was a little hesitant to purchase this jacket because of all the negative reviews about the loss of feathers. I bought it anyway, and am very pleased with the purchase. The coat has lost a few feathers, but not more than any other down coat that I have owned. I usually wear a small, but ordered a medium because I wanted to be able to wear a heavy sweater without getting that tight feeling through the shoulders. Although it is slightly big on me (5'4" 110), I am going to keep it because I don't mind the extra room. The parka is stylish and lightweight so even though it is slightly big, it doesn't look like I am wearing a sleeping bag. It also keeps me warm!

North Face failed on this coatThis was a really nice looking coat when worn, very light, warm and tailored fit. Unfortunately, the fabric is so porous that the down filling comes out in droves. In fact so much that it looks like the wearer works in a poultry factory, it covers you head to toe in down feathers on the inside and outside of the jacket. ,,,,The NorthFace really failed in their product testing on this jacket prior to production. ,,,,Buying advice is to pass on this coat completely unless you don't mind looking like you have chickens for pets.,,,,,,,,

Nice coat, but feathers everywhere and faulty zipper...already!?I bought this coat to prepare for the cold MN winters. I love the length and the color (I ordered the purple). It is also a very flattering fit. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it came.,, I was a bit hesitant to order as other reviews I read stated about feathers poking out, but I went for it anyways. Yes feathers poke out and fly around. That doesn't bother me too much, its that I have only been wearing for a month and the zipper is already sticking. When I try and zip up it does not want to zip. I would expect better from such a well-known brand.

Love this jacket! Exactly what I wanted!I bought this jacket because I wanted something to wear in the Michigan winters that didn't look like all of my other ski and more casual outerwear jackets or like I was going to meet clients. This jacket is perfect in that in addition to being fashionable it is also very warm and I have plenty of room to add a few layers if needed. I am 5'6" and weigh 127 pounds. A slim athletic build. I bought the small and the fit is spot on. I have worn the jacket for a month and I don't have any of the feather issues that some of the other reviewers mentioned. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Nice StyleI really like the style and warmth of this Jacket. The Price was right with free shipping, a Gift Card I received for another Moosejaw purchase that I applied to the purchase of this jacket and I used my reward points, so I only paid around $100.00, for this Jacket, if I would of paid more It would of been very disappointing, or I guess I would of enjoyed walking around looking like a Chicken, because the feathers continually stick out of this jacket. But NO I'm not sending it back, its still a Good, not Great Jacket and overall value.

Warm, Longer sleeves taper at wrists, Slightly snug across shouldersWarm from the moment I put it on--a fact I appreciate since I get cold easily. I normally wear a small but sized up to medium to wear bulky sweaters underneath. Glad of that since shoulders were a little snug across my broad shoulders. Don't like the lack of elastic cuffs inside the sleeves, but really like the extra length. My arms are a little longer so most jackets tend to be a little short in the sleeves. However, with arms fully stretched forward, sleeve ends just touch my wrists. Love that. A jacket I can actually do things in without baring my wrists. Please note that sleeves taper to be somewhat narrower at wrists. Okay for leather dress gloves but fat gloves will not fit underneath. Extra length should tuck nicely under fat gloves.

Lightweight, warm, and stylishI'm 5'4", 110 pounds, and wear XS-S. I ordered S and it is roomy enough to wear sweaters or sweatshirts underneath and still feel comfortable. It is very lightweight and has a goose down fill of 550. My mom has the same jacket from two years ago and it is a 600. Not sure why the change from 600 to 550 for this year's transit jacket but it should still be warm enough while I am walking to my classes on a cold Illinois campus!
Unfortunately the North Face doesn't provide an exact temperature rating for this item, however it will work well as a casual jacket for daily wear in most winter temperatures. If you are planning on wearing it in below zero temperatures I would suggest layering under it or searching for a more insulated jacket with a wind resistant outer design. I hope this helps.
