The North Face Women's Thunder Jacket is a compressible down jacket for exploring the backcountry. The 20D Pertex® nylon ripstop fabric is strong and durable, ready to protect the 800 fill down insulation inside each separate baffle. The weather can change quickly in the backcountry, and since this jacket can be stuffed into it's own hand pocket, you can always be prepared whether it's on your back or in your pack. A stellar mid-layer underneath your hardshell when the cold and snow sets in, or wear it alone for an extra touch of warmth on drier days. The hand pockets and internal chest pocket zip shut to prevent small essentials from littering the forest floors. The chest pocket is even media compatible for quick day hikes that require a tune. Simple, lightweight, down. So good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and warm I compared the Thunder down jacket with the Aconcagua down jacket and decided to go with Thunder. It's warmer, lighter weight, and more slimming than the Aconcagua. I like the more durable feel of the Aconcagua and the liner was a more complimentary color than the thunder jacket. Heads up if you go with graystone the liner is super bright mint green, it's hard to tell in pics. I also like the way the sleeve of this jacket has an inner elastic band to keep out drafts and snow and evil gnomes. The media compatible feature is nice. This would be a great jacket to wear under a shell for skiing when it's really cold. I'm 5'8" and 150 lbs and the medium is a perfect fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought one last week and will buy another when I get paid. I bought this for my girlfriend. I smiled when I saw the box, it had the cutest sticker on the side from the person who packed it :). The jacket looks even better in person and is very lightweight. She will love it as it is for Christmas and to add I ws able to use the 20% coupon on it. the black looks rich and sporty. I 'm currently browsing as I type looking for one for my mother. Can't decide what color as they all look wonderful. I will recommend this to anyone and have already to my co-workers who always look over my shoulder lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, light weight, slimming, very comfortable, functionable This coat is feather light and super warm! I hate wearing bulky coats over already heavier winter clothes. I hate when your arms feel trapped from all the layers and you can't raise them without that tight feeling. This coat is awesome! Doesn't feel like you're adding any additional layering. It's very warm and is great to wear as a stand alone or with a vest or even under a hardshell if you're some mountain snow skier...which I'm not. I tried on this jacket and Patagonia's down sweater (also a great coat) at a local store before making my purchase. But the NF coat won out in these areas: sleeve length (Patagonia sleeves seem to run a little on the short end), slimming fit (Patagonia has more of a boxy fit because of its side seams), & overall appearance. The NF jacket offers the same quality with a more slimming, feminine fit. I am 5'8, 130 lbs & wear a small in the NF Thunder jacket. Great all around fit & warmth with great sleeve length...& you hardly know you're even wearing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent warmth and very streamlined I am a fit 150, 5'9" female with an hourglass shape. I had to purchase a medium to ensure I had full range of motion (hip width and arm width were a bit small in size small). I am usually a small and sometimes an extra small in certain brands for outer wear. The front stomache area has almost too much room but the back and sides are fitted well. I choose the medium to ensure I could layer well, perhaps the baggy torso would not have been as exaggerated in a size small. Ultimately very warm and easy to pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, stylish, awesome I got this jacket for Christmas. I liked the style and the color because it was different (grey but definitely has a purplish hue). If you are a buxom babe this is the coat for you! Plenty of room for layering and super cute. You will not be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light weight warmth This jacket is just what I was looking for. It's light weight warmth is perfect for winter golf in Seattle. I would say it runs a bit on the large size though. I usually wear a small in North Face, but need an extra small in this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love! I love this jacket! It's very soft and light weight yet warm. The temp has been in the 20s and this jacket has kept me warm while I was wearing short sleeves. It's true to size.

I'm thinking about getting this for my mom for x-mas but I'm not sure what size I should get her, she's really short like 4'11 and probably 130lbs.,I really don't want to get the small bec. She is not petite&the med. I'm afraid it will be too long(sleeves)

Hey there, Sizing is not only dependent on height and weight, but also includes additional measurements like chest and waist sizes. With all these measurement combined, you can use The North Face's custom size guide to get the best possible fit. I hope this helps.
