"BEST BACKPACK THAT I HAVE EVER PURCHASED" 12/17/11
I purchased this backpack to use in college. I carry a very heavy laptop and books on top of that. I have had a previous history of back problems and so the doctor recommends me to carry light on my back, and this backpack does just that!!! I may be carrying up to fifty pounds but it doesn't feel like that on your back at all!!! I would highly recommend this product!!!! It has lots of pockets so it fits a lot of things too!!! I would recommend this to anyone!!!

I would highly recommend this backpack for anyone. It's great for taking a hike through the upper peninsula or even for everyday use walking through a college campus. It has a separate compartment for a laptop which is great and plenty of room for gear or books. I bought one for myself a year ago and I just purchased one for my brother as a christmas gift. awesome buy, you can't go wrong here!

My girlfriend regularly walks long distances to and from school while carrying a lot of books/notebooks. I wanted to get her something that was comfortable and held everything she needed for the day. It fits multiple textbooks, all the notebooks she needs, etc. So, size is not an issue. Even better - she doesn't complain about her back hurting anymore. I tried this thing on too and it is super comfortable. It's designed to sit closer to your body (in physics speak, it feels lighter). I went back and forth between a lot of backpacks and finally decided on this one. It's well worth the small investment!

I carry this every day to class, often bringing my laptop. After a year, it still looks brand new. I feel comfortable bringing my laptop to class without a protective sleeve because the laptop compartment is well-padded and even in the pouring rain, my laptop stays dry. Besides the laptop pocket, there is a central large pocket, then two smaller pockets on the front of the bag. As far as comfort goes, the straps don't dig into your shoulders and it fits over a large winter jacket. Overall this is a great quality backpack. The zippers don't stick, the handles aren't fraying, and after a year of use it still in great shape. I'd recommend it to a friend.

This backpack is great for day to day use (books, snacks, extra jackets) and is also big enough for an overnight, if you know how to pack right! As one of the bigger backpacks (33Liters) it has compartments for storing little things and lots of room for larger items. The zip pocket on the bottom is a perfect secret storage department. It comes in tons of great colors too!
"Probably Worth It" 07/15/11
I bought this pack about a year ago, and I love it. I use it for school, climbing, and day trips. It's very comfortable and versatile. One complaint, however, is that it is very long, so, to maximize the space, you have to shove your stuff to the very bottom. While this is usually not a problem, it has bothered me on some occasions. At least 4 or 5 of the zipper pulls have fallen off already, just from day to day use. Finally, my hip belt buckle broke about a week after I got the pack, although that one was my fault...I slammed it in the car door.
"Solid backpack for women" 04/01/11
This women's pack is a great buy for any student that needs extra space for their laptop and books. It's padding and straps are designed for women instead of men, which means fewer back problems for the ladies. Although a tad pricey, it does have that great lifetime warranty, which means if you ever load it up too full and the zippers break, you're covered. Just send it back, wait and you've got it back as good as new.
"Great for school and daytrips" 01/24/11
First, I bought the men's Surge backpack, thinking it'd work fine. Unfortunately, the shoulder straps were too far apart and the bag was too long- I'd lose my stuff at the bottom. I exchanged the men's version for this one, which I love. It's very flat, which makes it look somewhat larger than it is, although this bag never seems to run out of space- the more i slide in, the bigger it gets. I've also found the pockets somewhat frustrating- there's no little pocket that you can unzip for something like a cell phone, so you have to open several pockets to find little things.Also, despite what others have said, I can't get a normal-sized Nalgene bottle to fit.
