The North Face Women's Horizon II Convertible Pant is a convertible pant for hiking in a range of conditions. The tough nylon takes on the trail like a champ, resisting brushes with branches, dirt, and rock. And bears. When you wake at dawn to hit the trail early, the chill in the air requires pants, until the sun breaks through and the heat rises. Just change into a short whenever you wish, just unzip the zip! If you can't quite commit to the short, roll up the cuff and button the fabric to go clam-digger style for awhile. The quick-drying fabric is lightweight as well as providing UPF 30 against the sun so you can wade into the water to cool off your tired feet. The earlier part about the bears is probably not true.
