Solid boots- pricey but worth itI bought these thinking I could wear them during our lovely Wisconsin winters while still being fashionable to wear for my job in an elementary school... not sure if they are trendy enough to compete with the teachers, but the kids don't care! The insulation is AWESOME, and the mid calf length is ideal for trekking through snow to walk the dog, snowshoeing, and even durable enough for cross country skiing. The tread is great for rugged winter hiking too (although if in doubt I still use my YakTrax on them). At first I was tempted to return them because of the price/lack of fanciness, but I find that all leather, insulated AND waterproof boots that fit this well are worth the price. I've always been hesitant with pricey North Face stuff (really $700 down jackets?), but I've always been impressed with their boot department.

Great boots!I needed boots for my morning commutes so that I can have toasty toes, but not have to swap shoes at the office. Cause I'm lazy that way. These boots work great so far! Also, people take me more seriously when I wear these to meetings. The zipper can curve in and hit your ankle sometimes, so you'll need to wear higher/ socks. I assume this only con to the boot will eventually go away as the boot relaxes with more wear.

You'll look goodThese boots are cute and comfy. The best selling feature is my daughter thinks they aren't (she won't be stealing these ones). True to size, I can wear a thick pair of socks with them. My feet stayed toasty in 17 degree weather (wore wool socks too). Only thing is calf can be tight. Loosen the strings or don't if you like the compression feel.

How high do they come up on your leg? Are the mid calf or closer to the knee?

Thanks for the question. These boots come up to about mid-calf.
