The North Face Women's Arctic Parka is a great insulated winter trench that shines as an everyday winter jacket. It is insulated with 550 fill down which is protected by a waterproof, breathable HyVent 2L exterior. I got my sister an Arctic Parka for Christmas two years ago; she loves it so much that I've been able to get away with getting her crummy presents ever since. She's a big fan of the fashionable cut/length and the insulated hood with faux-fur trim. I'm a big fan of the great presents she has given me ever since I gave it to her.

After moving back to the midwest and having to rely on public transportation, I quickly realized that I needed a jacket that was extremely warm in the winters. I've had this jacket for over 3 years now and I still love everything about it. Even after multiple washings the jacket retains its warmth in all areas - one thing to note - remove the fur lining before you toss it into the dryer or it will melt together some (at least mine did when my husband washed it).
The Arctic Parka is everything I was hoping for in a city winter coat. It's heavy enough that it keeps me totally warm, and the shell material keeps me dry in rainy/snowy weather. I highly recommend this coat over any down fill coat without a solid shell. The hood is very warm and comfortable. I think the coat is flattering, it's not a puffy puffy coat that hides your figure. Thumbs up on price, style, and usability!!
bought this parka to get me through the boston winters. coming from someone who has lived on the west coast for over a decade, this coat for the most part kept me very cozy and warm. my only gripes were that the chest pockets were a little useless, the sleeves were a bit too long for me (but i have short arms), there was little to no ventilation, and that it was a bit bulky to carry around. however, it was a fantastic length (my legs were warm!) and did the job of protecting me from the cold. it'll definitely last me another three years in college!
