The North Face Women's Apex Elevation Jacket is a wind resistant softshell for windy hikes through damp trails. The TNF Apex Universal fabric is 100% polyester twill with a brushed tricot backer, soft to the touch yet durable for the outdoors. A durable water repellent finish prevents moisture from soaking in on the fabric surface and wind permeability is rated at 5-15 CFM (where 0CFM is 100% windproof), so you can trudge through a windy snow flurry without overheating or getting soaked. The jacket stretches with you and packed on the inside is PrimaLoft insulation to kick the heat up an extra notch. The Apex Elevation helps you stay active in the winter. It's about time to kick cabin fever to the curb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Appearance The jacket is listed as a relaxed fit. However, with measurements of 36"/34D bra, 29" waist, 35.5" hips, 126 lbs. and 5'4" height need to order size medium. The small size is definitely too small. The sleeves for a person with these measurements will be a little too long, but can be turned up an inch if needed. The fanfare green color with maroon color inside is attractive. The jacket material is good for easy care, is water proof and folds easily for packing. A hat and scarf in a knit, cable pattern, fanfare green color is available to match the jacket and gloves in the same color can be ordered. The jacket feels warmer than expected because of the primaloft insulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite coat ever!! I live in Nebraska where we have a wide variety of temperatures. The winters are unpredictable and very windy. This coat is thin yet warm!!! Easy to layer but warm even just over a t-shirt. The wind does not cut through! I love the materials and the way it fits. I love northface but sometimes their women's products are too short and "cut" for me. This coat is feminine yet easy to wear. I am long waisted and the length is great. I did get a large which should probably be a bit big for me but it's not too small to layer or to big to wear alone. Does not look boxy. I am 39 years old and have owned lots of coats. I seriously love this one!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than I Expected! I bought this jacket online and was very nervous, since I had never tried it on. I love it! It seems quite well-lined, and I think it will be plenty warm for everything I need it for. I bought it for skiing and being outside in the snow, and while it is not really a traditional ski jacket, it should be fine unless I am caught in really harsh conitions. The best part is that it is not bulky at all, so if it is going to be super cold, I can certainly layer underneath it. So, I can use it often, for regular day-to-day life, and still have something really useful for skiing. Super versitile, and a great light blue color, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Perfection I spend a lot of time/effort/procrastinating from actual important things in looking for a good shell jacket and this is everything one could hope for. While at first a little denser than I anticipated (I expected a fairly unlined interior and this one is slightly padded, making for a very warm jacket), the jacket is still very lightweight and comfortable, and holy smokes is the interior soft. Like baby animal soft without the guilt of turning a baby animal into a jacket. The coloring of the jacket is also ridiculously snazzy (though the green is more seafoam than mint so if that really matters to you, watch out). Overall, a wonderful, wonderful purchase and well worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great winter jacket I bought this jacket to keep me warm on cold New England Winter days. I have multiple NF jackets (the 3-in-1's for skiing) but I wanted something that was not so bulky. Its great a alternative which doesn't leave me feeling bound to the drivers seat, and is warm enough to wear outside for 40 minutes of playground time. I think that thumbholes would have been nice, but it is fine. I got the garnet color, I love it! I typically buy Mediums in NF, but thats for skiing type coats. I preferred the LARGE in this coat in order to put a nice sweater underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome jacket I received this coat coat as a gift for Xmas. I got the men's version since I am a guy. I wanted a down coat but got this instead. I was afraid it would not be warm enough because all of the down costs were incredibly warm. This coat is incredibly warm and not bulky like the down costs. I ordered this for my wife the day after I used mine for the first time. She loves it and says the same. If you need a warm coat without the bulk this is it. Plus it is awesome for that cold winter rain as well. It repels water great. Best jacket/coat we have ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This jacket is warm without the bulk! I needed a jacket that would keep me warm on the playground during recess without looking like the Michelin man. This jacket is not bulky at all and keeps me very warm. The inside is very soft, but cozy. The hood is also lined and very warm! I love that it is waterproof for those snowy winters days or the cold rainy days. The pockets are fleece lined and very warm as well. Bring on the wintery weather!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect - Lightweight but Toasty Warm Got this jacket today and was able to try it out right away on a dog walk. It is super warm and wind does not get through it! It was about 25 degrees and felt like 17 with the wind chill, and this jacket kept me warm for the whole walk. Plus, it looks great - it's not too bulky and the greystone blue color is gorgeous. I'd highly recommend :-)

Hey there, While the body insulation is composed of 100g of PrimaLoft Silver Insulation Eco, the hood and sleeves are made of 60g of PrimaLoft Silver Insulation Eco. Hope this helps.

Would this work well as a ski jacket, maybe with a layer underneath?  I'm lookiong for something my wife can bike to work with in the winter but would also like it to double as a ski jacket.

Asked by: jjjj
Hey there, This jacket would work as a ski jacket with a layer underneath, though you may want to look at a fully waterproof and seam sealed jacket if you are planning on skiing in harsher conditions. This jacket is water resistant but it will not hold up in heavy snow or rain.

How noisy is the jacket material when you walk?

Asked by: TosaCustomer
Hey there, Thanks for the question. Due to the fabric used in constructing this jacket, it should not be noisy when moved around in. No jacket will be completely free of noise, but you shouldn't notice any excessive noise when wearing this.
