Very ergonomic and easy to adjust. Very specious inside and well compartamentalized. Overall my most used pack for shorter trips.

"roomy!"  03/01/12

This backpack is VERY spacious!! I can fit EVERYTHING i need for all of my classes and it doesn't feel heavy at all. The best feature for me is the bottom compartment where you can put your laptop charger/chord.

"roomy!"  03/01/12

this is a HUGE backpack that is SUPER comfortable for its size! I can fit everything i need for the day and the pack still feels like i'm carrying nothing at all! The back pads and shoulder straps are well-padded and cushioned so I have no back pain at all!

"Can I marry a backpack? No seriously. I'm in love with the Surge."  02/06/12

Ok, so as a junior in high school I have a ton of stuff. Yes stuff, like the "I'm a daughter of an eagle scout who raised me on the Be Prepared philosophy" kind of stuff. The surge is my everything backpack, literally. From my calculator & trail running shoes to my MacBook Pro & AP US History binder, this backpack has a place for EVERYTHING! It has so many pockets. (I would count them, but at the moment I'm feeling lazy.) It has the computer pocket that is so good it makes me want to ditch my current bulky case/cover. It even has a dandy little whistle attached to the chest strap buckle. If you are half-way considering it - BUY IT! You won't be disappointed! (:

"Surge= HUGE and awesome"  01/29/12

"Too much bag, too little stuff"  11/25/11

I bought this bag here about a year ago because everyone was raving about it. I needed a bag to take around Africa for work that had a laptop pocket. There are a number of good things about the bag - like my other NF gear, it is really well built and has a lot of features and the laptop pocket is great. However, I'm constantly on small planes and in tight spaces and it just doesn't hold that much stuff for how big the bag is. Seems great for some people, but I just wanted to write a review for those people that are looking for a decent sized bag that can that haul a lot of gear in the smallest space possible. If you're a minimalist or worry about size or space this isn't the bag for you.

"101% Guaranteed & Lovable best BACKPACK EVVEERRRR"  11/22/11

I bought this BP back in '05 and I still have it! It still works like brand new, still in great condition. I'm actually buying a second today for a gift bc i love it so much! And I'm one of those skeptical shoppers who rarely falls for the next "big fad". The Surge is not a fad, it's REAL. So all of you who are looking for a backpack for school and business, I 101% recommend the SURGE! :)

"Best back pack ever. Thats the end of it."  09/28/11

This is a great backpack that has so many pockets. If I explored this bag more than I already have, I will probably find 10 more pockets. It's small, but it can fit a ton in it. This back pack is durable too. My hiking stick poked it by accident and it didn't even get punctured.

"Need a pocket? How about 20?"  09/24/11

I bought this backpack after my last Northface died on me. I was going for something with a few more bells and whistles and boy did I get it! The Surge has more pockets (including interior organizer pockets and no mesh water bottle holders - hate those) and straps than I know what to do with (read that as a pro or a con, your choice). I'm not a huge fan of the double zipper/clip compartment on the very front (haven't figured out what it's good for), but other than that, It's great! Sizing works out fine for me, I'm a petite female grad student and bought the male model because of the colors.

"Totally Awesome Backpack!!"  09/22/11

I'm obsessed with this backpack! Everyone in my dorm is so jealous. I was worried when it rained for a few days on campus but The North Face Surge Backpack kept my books dry. I even used it for a few day hikes and the hip strap was really nice.

"Best backpack ever"  09/08/11

This is my favorite backpack I have ever owned. I use it for just about everything that I am not using my Timbuk2 messenger bag for. It is the perfect amount of space to take for a weekend get away or a multiday hike.
