"Happy first grader" 03/19/12
This is my first north face back pack purchase. I was looking for something well made yet trendy for my first grader something that will last.What I did not know...The North Face offers a life time guarantee on the bag (just like ll. bean only way cooler design!) I kept the receipt and the tag in my "guarantee file". Looks-wise the bag is exactly as depicted except the inside has two mesh pockets and one zippered pocket. The back is padded with thick foam as are the straps. Highly comfortable and absolutely flawless construction. .
"Perfect for my kindergartener!" 10/17/11
The Recon Squash is just the right size for my six year old daughter. "Full size" school packs practically hit her in the back of the knees. This pack's smaller size is much more comfortable for her. It's plenty big enough for a folder or binder and the requisite toys that accompany her to school everyday. No textbooks yet, but it's good enough for a few library books in addition to everything else..Once it gets too small for school use, this will make a nice travel/hiking pack.I've had a full size Recon pack for seven or eight years that's taken a beating and still looks (almost) like new. I expect the Squash to hold up just as well.
