The North Face Recon Backpack isn't satisfied with just being a supes efficient work or school backpack. The Recon offers the same awesome features as other North Face backpacks for students, but is also designed with additional back support and a hydration clip/port in the large main compartment, making it ideal for days out on the trails or bike paths. The Recon pack provides plenty of storage space and options, including a padded laptop sleeve that can hold most 15" laptops, front mesh drop pocket, front stash pocket, and side mesh water bottle pockets to hold your Nalgenes when you're on the move. The North Face built the Recon backpack with your comfort in mind too, featuring Flex Vent injection-molded shoulder straps with additional foam for added comfort, an air mesh back panel with spine channel, and a padded, winged and stowable hipbelt. I went on Recon once, but she called it stalking. Whatever.

"Great Buy!" 03/22/12
I bought this backpack to get me through college. I had no idea it was going to be so comfort able when carrying around such large loads! I've also began doing quite a bit of hiking and I always take my North Face Recon with me! It's serves all purposes!
"Great quality, good structure, a bit small" 02/20/12
Main pocket: 15in MBP (in a sleeve), usually 2 textbooks (each about 2 inches thick), a folder, planner, and a 2-subj. notebook. All of that is in the main compartment. The smaller compartment (with the pen organization) usually houses my laptop cord, pens and pencils.Mesh pocket on the front: my wallet and lunch. 1 side pocket holds my 32oz nalgene and the other usually holds a snack.So I really pack this thing to the max. It fits all of this pretty well, but not much room for anything else. If you carry less than this regularly, this is an awesome backpack that you'll get your money's worth and then some. If you carry a load similar to/larger than mine, you might want to reconsider.

This is a wonderful backpack! It has room for EVERYTHING. The mesh pocket on the side is just big enough for a wide mouth nalgene bottle. Its perfect. I have a few carabiners on that horizontal little strap on the bottom front of the bookbag just for any random encounters. If youre hesitating to buy this... BUY IT!
"Great day pack!" 11/25/11
I have a older version of this pack but its roughly the same. Great amount of storage and a sleeve inside the main compartment for a laptop. Outer pocket can neatly store phone, mp3 player, key ring and outer mesh can hold random crap. Has a handy dandy rape whistle built into the front shoulder straps. Very comfortable and and well worth it. A little pricey but its north face they make great products that last.
"Excellent backpack. Very versatile" 11/02/11
Great all-purpose backpack! It is made out of very durable material and is able to support a lot of weight. Never had to worry about straps breaking or the material ripping which I cannot say for every backpack I've owned. Tons of room for storage which makes it a great backpack for both school and recreational use. I've used mine for two years now carrying ~20 lbs in it everyday for University and have had no issues or problems. I've also went hiking with it numerous times and again it works great for storing layers and food. Best part is that it's also designed for a bladder. Very comfortable straps and an excellent overall design. Well worth the money.
