SPECIFICATIONS of The North Face Men's Apex Bionic Jacket
I am 5'-11", 235 lbs and normally wear an XL so that is what I ordered, fits great. It is roomy enough to wear a thick shirt or other insulated layer and not be too tight. Without that under layer just a t-shirt it still good. Good range of motion thanks to the material. Wind proof and water resistant as well. I have worn this in temps down to the mid 30's (f) with low to moderate activity and have been warm enough (long sleeve shirt under neath). I like that the cinch chords are on the inside of the pockets so they don't get hung up on stuff. The chest pocket is perfect for sunglasses, phones etc..
It is 25 degrees (F) here today with 35 mph gusts. This (along with a base layer) certainly kept me warm on a dry day. Very thoughtful pockets and looks good to boot. Went with a medium which allows for layering underneath (runs a little large in my opinion).
"Great for fall. Not as warm as I expected."
This is definitely a jacket for fall. I live in a cold climate so temps drop real fast, and this jacket is really only great for temps above 40 degrees. Although if you're doing a little cross country skiing, or snowshoeing in the winter and need something warm, but not too warm, this is also great for that. I wasn't happy with my color choice (the green wasn't what I expected), but I'm happy with the jacket.
This jacket is perfect for the fall weather. It is completely waterproof, the rain literally beads and rolls off! It is impervious to wind as well. Not quite warm enough for winter, but great for the transition.
"Amazing jacket, should have bought it sooner"
My wife bought me this jacket a few months ago, and I am now hooked on The North Face. It is true to size, bought a large and it fits perfectly. It is very versatile and not "heavy" yet you could still wear this easily from February-December. It is warm but also not too heavy, so it is perfect for chilly nights in Spring/Summer too. Definitely a keeper and this is a must-have for anyone who loves The North Face.
This is a great jacket- I wore it to work from August to April (Hey, it's cold here in Wisconsin!) it's a great 3-season jacket, and the short trips outside in the winter when you don't want to throw on your Michelin man jacket. This jacket held up very well to stains and washes, and is pretty stellar at shedding moisture. I'm 6'2" and I ordered an XL which was the perfect body length but ran a little long in the arms (maybe I just have T-rex arms, I'm not sure). In April, the zipper finally gave out, but fear not- TNF warranties all of their gear!
Just received this jacket and it's perfect for my 6'6" lanky husband. I got him the XL for extra sleeve length and to be able to put an extra layer underneath if needed. This will be a perfect spring/fall jacket for Minnesota!
