"no good in heavy rain" 04/04/13
There are two major problems with it. First not all the seams are sealed, if you look closely, you'll find that the seams near the bottom (draw string closure) are NOT sealed. This means the bottom of the jacket leaks and soaks up water (the same can be said about the cuffs). To make things worst, the fit is very short. In practice this means that whatever layer you have under the jacket will come in contact with the bottom draw string closure and WILL get soaked as well.
"Nice but Noisy Jacket" 03/06/13
If you want everyone to know you are coming, this is the jacket for you! I like the jacket, however, its super noisy! I thought I was going to wake my kid up just trying it on! Also the color is a little brighter than I thought it would be. It has nice features, but I'll be exchanging it for something else.
"does not breathe at all" 02/17/13
I was at first satisfied with this jacket for wearing as an everyday casual. It fits well and keeps the rain out. However it does not let any moisture out of the shell. Went hiking with this as an outerlayer and the TNF Super Zephyrus underneath. By the end of the hike there was a layer of moisture on top of my midlayer because it could not escape from this shell. Another hike with just this shell and no midlayer and there was such a swamp building up under the jacket I returned it that day.
"I didn't get wet!" 01/20/13
This jacket kept me dry on a moderately cold day in the city. It isn't very well ventilated, but I never felt really overheated. The small is a little bulky on my boyish frame, but it's a good size to throw over my warm down jacket should I encounter some freezing rain (snow?) type weather someday.I do have a hard time with the hood... It goes so low that it tends to cover my eyes. That's especially bad when I'm biking, but I can't attribute that to the coat. It's probably because of that charming boyish frame I mentioned.
"not so breathable....unless you unzip the pits!" 12/31/12
My husband has been wearing this jacket over a not-so waterproof down jacket in wet snow/rain-snow conditions. That wasn't the reason it was purchased (was supposed to be for camping in the rain), but it has made a not-so useful down jacket get a second chance at life. But MUST remember to un-zip the pit zips.
"So light, so awesome." 12/30/12
I am foreign, and we still call water proof outerwear "rain coats"i was not too sure when I first placed the order. When I got the package it was awfully lighter than I am used to. . So with caution I opened the package and did not like how light this jacket felt. I had it shipped to work and guess what it started raining. I threw it on and walked out to my car, and the tire is flat. 30 mins later when i sat in my car and took this jacket out, my shirt was as dry as it just came out from the cleaners. Nice quality product from a quality company.
"North Face NEVER disappoints..........." 12/14/12
Bought this jacket for my husband and he LOVES it!! Very versatile, and stylish....He works outside and needed a lighter weight "shell" jacket for questionable weather. IF you gotta be out workin' in the rain, you might as well look good doing it!!
"Excellent rainjacket" 12/10/12
Bought it a year ago for a trip up to Alaska and Seattle. Proved its worth in the rainy North West! Bought a size up and kept me dry and comfortable. No insulation but the pit zips are good for a little ventilation. I'm 6'2, 190lb and the XL was just right for a sweater underneath.
"worth the money" 11/05/12
I have had this rain jacket for 4 years now and have never had an issue with it. From drizzles to down pours it has always kept me dry. The vents under the arm are perfect for the hot muggy rainy days. My advice would be to buy a size up so it can fit over hoodies and other fleeces. This plus the north face denali fleece is practically a winter jacket that can be worn any time through out the winter.
"Keeps you completely dry!!!!" 10/27/12
I bought this at the beginning of summer to use on those heavy rains. It's held up and kept my completely dry even in down pour! The one complaint I have is that it doesn't breath too well. That's fine with me though it keeps me warm in the fall as just a light jacket.
