"Fits well, made very well, Armpit vents are awesome"
Great looking in green. Armpit vents are a great feature and worth the added cost from the next model down. Lots of pockets. Fit is true to size. Zipper and seams made very well. You won't sweat in this jacket with the great liner that wicks away moisture.
All and all this is a good entry level jacket, but do keep in mind that it is sized for the masses (boxy, wide). Also the length could stand to extended an inch or two.Pit zips are a must for this level of jacket and this one comes equipped. The visor is nice, add a baseball hat and you're really in business. The liner is that mesh stuff, not sure how it will hold up long term, but it feels pretty nice and helps fight off the clams. If you're looking for an entry level jacket for hiking that is going to keep you alive, this is a great choice. If you looking for something to wear around town, this is all you will ever need and more.
Pretty simple, keeps the rain out. At 5'10" and 215 lbs, a large fits perfectly with enough room for a compressible layer underneath. Pit zip vents are an added bonus for those hot days. Only wish it has a self packing pouch.
I got this jacket a month ago and it has really served me well! It keeps me dry and at the same time looks really good. The only down is that it can get really hot if it is hot outside, but it is better being hot than wet! I also like that my North Face fleece fits perfectly inside this so its basically like a full winter jacket!
There are two major problems with it. First not all the seams are sealed, if you look closely, you'll find that the seams near the bottom (draw string closure) are NOT sealed. This means the bottom of the jacket leaks and soaks up water (the same can be said about the cuffs). To make things worst, the fit is very short. In practice this means that whatever layer you have under the jacket will come in contact with the bottom draw string closure and WILL get soaked as well.
If you want everyone to know you are coming, this is the jacket for you! I like the jacket, however, its super noisy! I thought I was going to wake my kid up just trying it on! Also the color is a little brighter than I thought it would be. It has nice features, but I'll be exchanging it for something else.
I was at first satisfied with this jacket for wearing as an everyday casual. It fits well and keeps the rain out. However it does not let any moisture out of the shell. Went hiking with this as an outerlayer and the TNF Super Zephyrus underneath. By the end of the hike there was a layer of moisture on top of my midlayer because it could not escape from this shell. Another hike with just this shell and no midlayer and there was such a swamp building up under the jacket I returned it that day.
This jacket kept me dry on a moderately cold day in the city. It isn't very well ventilated, but I never felt really overheated. The small is a little bulky on my boyish frame, but it's a good size to throw over my warm down jacket should I encounter some freezing rain (snow?) type weather someday.I do have a hard time with the hood... It goes so low that it tends to cover my eyes. That's especially bad when I'm biking, but I can't attribute that to the coat. It's probably because of that charming boyish frame I mentioned.
"not so breathable....unless you unzip the pits!"
My husband has been wearing this jacket over a not-so waterproof down jacket in wet snow/rain-snow conditions. That wasn't the reason it was purchased (was supposed to be for camping in the rain), but it has made a not-so useful down jacket get a second chance at life. But MUST remember to un-zip the pit zips.
I am foreign, and we still call water proof outerwear "rain coats"i was not too sure when I first placed the order. When I got the package it was awfully lighter than I am used to. . So with caution I opened the package and did not like how light this jacket felt. I had it shipped to work and guess what it started raining. I threw it on and walked out to my car, and the tire is flat. 30 mins later when i sat in my car and took this jacket out, my shirt was as dry as it just came out from the cleaners. Nice quality product from a quality company.
