The North Face Men’s Thunder Jacket is a water-resistant down jacket to keep you warm while hiking the backcountry. The baffles are packed with water-resistant treated 800-fill down, which stays dry longer in wet weather. No more need to fret about the snow setting in. The lightweight nylon fabric helps make the jacket highly compressible, as it can stuff into its own pocket and pulled out for use as a mid-layer when temps drop even lower.

FEATURES of The North Face Men's Thunder Jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, Quality Casual Jacket I have a number of jackets from a Mountain Hardwear Conduit SL down bomber to a Spyder ski jacket to a Mountain Hardwear softshell and a Patagonia wind proof fleece. This jacket is warmer than the softshell and fleece, but not as puffy and warm as my Mountain Hardwear down. Honestly I was looking for a jacket that was more understated than my MH puffy, yet still warm enough to rely on for most conditions. It is perfect for 20F temps, and easy to slide off and on quickly. It's a little boxy, so at 5'7", 151 pounds, I took a small instead of the medium. It stores nicely in its own pocket too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as warm as my Nuptese 2, is it due to the fill type? Boy I so wanted to be able to give this a better rating. Arrived today here in NH. I put it to immediate use in our 20 degree-ish winter weather. Normally I go outside with my 700 fill Nutpese 2 wearing just a tee shirt and I'm perfectly fine, not too cold nor too hot. So when I saw the Thunder 800 fill and that it was lighter and less bulky than the Nuptese 2 I figured it was a no brainer...... sadly no. I went out in the Thunder, wearing a tee shirt, as I usually do and I was cool to cold. It certainly did not perform as expected. So thinking that maybe the problem was that the fill was still compressed from shipping I put it into the dryer on a warm air tumble to try and "fluff" the fill a bit. I took it outside again, still no joy. ,,Now I'm wondering if the 800 fill in the Thunder is that different from the 700 fill in my Nuptese 2, either way sadly the Thunder is not as warm as the older Nuptese 2.,,My Nuptese 2 goes back into service and the Thunder gets stowed away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you dont want to die in the arctic, this will keep you warm My wife bought this coat for me last year and i absolutely love it. It really keeps you so warm and is super light weight. I can even fold it into its own pocket for quick storage in my pack if it gets too cold. I would recommend this product to anyone
