The North Face Men's ThermoBall Hoodie is an insulated jacket built to keep you warm when you're on the move. The North Face teamed up with PrimaLoft® to create ThermoBall™ synthetic insulation, and what a break through it has been.Light, fluffy, and ultra-compressible just like down, but with the added power of keeping you warm incase it gets wet. That means you just gained a new best friend out on the mountains, whether you're hiking, skiing, climbing or mountaineering. The outer nylon ripstop shell is 15D for durability and won't compromise the weight of the jacket. The whole jacket packs down super small, so you can pack it or wear it at your leisure. The hood and hem cinch down and the cuffs have a hidden internal elastic, all specifically for blocking drafts from getting inside the jacket. Layer up, the ThermoBall Hoodie is at your service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Absolutely stellar First off, this jacket is awesome (my review is based off the previous model). I took it out for it's first real test last weekend for a bouldering trip in Alabama and it was about 30˚ at night and let me tell you; don't be fooled when it says this is a cold weather jacket. It's not. I've had this jacket for a year and a half and can comfortably say that it's built for about 35-50ish degrees with a t-shirt or long sleeves, but it can go lower with a cotton sweatshirt or something along those lines. I also love the stowage pockets that can also be used as a pillow. All in all: a great jacket, but layer up for below those freezing temps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit! When the zipper blew out on my last name brand synthetic jacket, I decided to go back to a brand I should've stayed with, The North Face. I couldn't be happier with my ThermoBall Hoodie! The fit is nice and slim, yet there is plenty of room for a fleece underneath. I recently wore this jacket skiing at Mammoth. The weather turned cruddy and freezing rain began to fall behind gusty winds. Even though the shell became wet, I stayed nice and cozy. It's not windproof, but I wasn't bothered by the amount of wind finding its way through. Great jacket, and I'm sure that if the zipper goes on this one, North Face will replace it with no problems!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK i am actually not impressed with the warmth. this is a good jacket for activities where you will add body heat while moving but not for hanging around. I have only been able to use the coat in around high 30-40s when i take the dogs out at night and i must say that it doesnt keep me all that warm even with sweatshirt underneath. The pockets are near useless because there is no insulation whatsoever just a thin layer of the exterior material and no primaloft and i am also afraid to put anything remotely sharp because it most likely put a hole in it. Nice looking coat though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second thermoBall jacket and not my last! I bought the original thermoBall three years ago, and fell in love! I decided that it was time to get the hoodie (since my first was just the full zip jacket (and is still in great shape after extensive abuse)). Let's just say the new one is even better. I have been in freezing rain, snow, 60+ mph winds on mountains, and near sub-zero temps and I have yet to be let down. This is the perfect jacket for those on the move! And it looks snazzy too. If you are looking for a jacket just to stand around in on your smoke break buy one from wal-mart instead and save some money. If you are and adventurous person looking to have a jacket that will keep you warm in just about any situation and never let you down than look no further, this is the jacket for you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it. Seriously. Buy it now. I'm a dog walker. I walk my dogs. I have 4 of them. The 2 youngsters get 6 miles plus a day. The older two get 2 plus. Everyday. Rain, wind, snow, etc... We get a lot of those things in Northern Indiana. Where has this jacket been all my life? I need a coat that I can wear in many different kinds of weather and let's me be active without getting overheated. I wear it when it's 15 degrees and it keeps me warm. I wear it when it's 50 degrees and I don't get too warm. If it rains, I wear a light, rainproof outer shell over it. Since this jacket isn't bulky, it is perfect for this kind of setup. It's like a magic jacket. Seriously, I love it. Not bulky. Fits perfectly. Looks great. On me anyway. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent weight and warmth. I had been wanting one of these for a long time. I finally pulled the trigger. Waiting day after day for the box to arrive, my anticipation grew. And the finally, on a warm day in January, it arrived. I opened the box and pulled the jacket out. It felt great. Tried it on. It fit great. But it was 70° outside. It was like some sick trick that Mother Nature had been pulling over me. Luckily, this week has consisted of nights in the 20s and 30s. I've been grilling out every night in my favorite pair or sweats, a t-shirt, and this jacket. It's pretty dang warm. Warmer than I thought it'd be. Super comfy, almost like wearing a sleeping bag. The conquer blue color is dope. It's unlike all my other jackets, which are generic black. I like it more than my Aton lt. Seriously, get one. Seriously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightest and Warmest! This jacket is so lightweight and can't even tell its in your hand when holding it. The level of warmth is hard to believe with such a lightweight product. The good thing about it is it is synthetic so it will keep me warm even if it happens to get wet! The cuffs have elastic a few inches up on the inside that keeps breezes and cool air out. The elastic in the cuff is not restricting either. The draw cords on the bottom and hood work great at keeping cool air and breezes out too. Love love love this jacket!

Is this jacket meant for Active activities? Can it be worn around town ~40-50s with midweight fleece for warmth? Does it block the wind? Any inside pockets or stuffsack?

Asked by: MrMojo
Thanks for the question! The Thermoball can be used for many activities. It has ripstop nylon and won't tear easily. It is perfect for temps in the 40-50's. It can be worn with a midweight fleece since it is an "Active Fit" - meaning it fits close to the body. There is no wind protection, but is water resistant. It does not have any inside pockets, but it does stow inside the left hand pocket. Hope this help!

Is this jacket able to be zipped into another North Face jacket to add layering?

Asked by: Sunny09
Heyo! Thanks so much for asking such a great question. Unfortunately, this jacket cannot be zipped into any other jacket. Although it cannot be zipped in, it is a great for layering. Hope this helps!

Can the hood come off?

Asked by: Jme430
Howdy! I'm sorry to report that the hood of this item is NOT removable. You'd be stuck with it. If you prefer your jacket without a hood, just search for the Thermoball Jacket (not Hoody). Then you can wear a hat in colder weather if you'd like.
