"Not as versitle as North Face Impulse 1/4 zip but great for layering aggressive paddling" 06/23/10
Got this stretch softwool for layering with paddling and snowshoeing. Does the job great and keeps me warm even if damp from paddle spray or snow. However, note that it is LIGHT (read thin)... so if you are expecting moderately thick wool look elsewhere. This is like a wool longsleeved t-shirt. I am 6' and 170lb... I normally wear a men's medium Impulse but got a large stretch softwool and it works perfect for layering. Good product!
"Comfort and definite wearability" 04/20/10
I have 3 of these now - and I'll swear by them. Warm and a great base layer, these are soft and definitely NOT itchy as some may think. They keep the promise of defending against "funk," too - and have become an envied part of my gear arsenal!
"Best Base Layer Ever" 04/20/10
Hey, you know - when most people hear "wool" they think Itchy even if Scratchy is not around or is blown up. I have 3 of these now and, like my other North Face items, they are a part of my life now. Awesome comfort and warmth - and they really do "defeat da funk!"
"Itch Free Wooly Goodness" 01/24/10
I had to double check the tag to make sure it actually had some wool in it. I normally get itchy with even the finest merino wool tops, but for some reason (maybe it's the Nylon component)I have no problem with this piece.Having gotten past the itch issue, allow me to rave about the fit, performance and toughness of this thing. It keeps me comfy over a wide range of temps, wicks like a mofo, dries quickly and stays funk free over repeated, sweat inducing pitches. A bit pricey, but worth the tariff.
