The Men's Paramount Peak Convertible Pant by The North Face or the cool kids say TNF. Updated, these are TNF's or The North Face's best-selling convertible pants, featuring modernized lines, bluesign fabric (socially responsible manufacturing processes), extra carrying capacity and improved durability. Perfect for day hikes, globetrotting, or just touring the Forest Preserve, these pants have an UPF of 30, DWR finish- water repellency, quick drying, partial elastic waist with belt loops, zip-fly, and a built in belt. Convertible into 10" shorts, with color coded leg zips, and secure zip pocket near the right hand pocket for all your hiding needs. These pants remind of the one time I wanted to hike the Grand Canyon, but I couldn't because our tour bus was leaving, or something worthless. I don't know, but the pockets on these guys are really classy. North Face made these out of 100% nylon faille fabric.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are THE pants you want for hiking, great for casual wear as well I looked at almost every pair of hiking pants and arrived at these. Convertible, zip off bottoms and built in belt make these pants extremely versatile.,,,,It's critical to know your size if using for hiking. I'm 5' 11" 180-200lbs with a 34" waist x 30 to 31" inseam - I wear a MEDIUM SHORT in these pants. Pants are comfy, wick moisture and dry quick if wet. Wore them for 3 days in a row in Rocky Mt National Park and didn't have to hang them out the window on the way back.,,,,Other than being a little restrictive when hiking very steep inclines/steps, these are the perfect pants for hiking, and they look good too...picture doesn't do justice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pants, priced a little high for the durability. I've used these pants for hiking, camping, backpacking, and rock climbing. I like the look and fit. They are pretty functional with the velcro flap rear pockets, cargo pockets, and zip off legs.Slightly water repellant and dry quickly. I would recomend these for cool to warm weather. In cold your gonna need a base layer, and if its really hot they are gonna be to hot even when zipped off into shorts. Both cargo pockets are showing wear after about a year of use, and one has a small hole. It's from these areas being rubbed against rocks, etc while I have things in the cargo pockets like a compact digital camera. 5'10, 175 32in waist, Med fits well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magical Pants from Space These are the best pants ever - even better than Bruce Lee Official Kung Fu Levis. For real. They're the perfect weight, magically turn into shorts (and even have color-coded Repblican/Democrat zippers on the legs), and take an incredible amount of wear and tear before even looking slightly worn. They repel water, clean easily, hold their color, balance your checkbook, have enough pockets for your trinkets and gear and are generally awesome.,,,,One small gripe, though - the most recent design iteration did away with a very handy D-ring on the left side and a small right-leg pocket that just happened to be the perfect size for a smartphone. Wat do, NF?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great versatile pant Since I bought my first pair these are the only backpacking\hiking pants I buy. Pricey yes but the material is tougher and heavier then the basic ripstop you get with most other convertibles, but still shed water and dry quickly. Zip off legs are great, you don't even have to remove them just unzip the knees and you get great added ventilation. Only problem I have had is the seam in the crotch and seat begins to separate after hard wear (two different pair), but this can be expected from scrambling down over rock. Still have always lasted the trips and given me plenty of time to have the seam repaired and strengthened on both pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pair of Convertible Pants I've had these pants for over a year, lost some weight and had to order a smaller size to keep them from following off of me. I'm tough on gear and these pants have held up to the test of time. The zip pocket is effiecient but the 2 hip pockets are a little big. That is the only negative I have found. They fit well, allow for ample movement while hiking or climbing during almost any season. They aren't great in the summer because they are a little heavy/thick for warmer temperatures, however, the pants are perfect for fall, spring or winter camping. I recommend me these pants for any fall, spring or winter hiking or climbing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multi-use pants! I have had the pleasure of these pants for camping/hiking in the rockies to exploring the desserts, rain forest of Colombia (South America) and rain forest of Costa Rica ( Central America). what features I liked most are the wind and rain resistants, and deep pockets, and the zippered pocket. Oh, and not having to look for a belt. they are "do everything" protection and comfort that I never imagined till I tried'em. The fit and fabric of these pants is what makes them. I had them as my single pant/short combo the entire trip and they held up well. I would suggest these to anyone who's going out into light to moderate weather and needs comfortable pants.,,,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Balance of Durability of Weight This are incredibly comfortable. The are a little tougher than a lot of other hiking pants out there which is great when you are having the trek off trail a little bit. The color coded zips are ingenious. The integrated belt is nice, but a little long, other than that I have nothing to complain about on this pair of pants. They dry quickly and breath, but they can get a little hot, but nothing unbearable. They look great as pants or shorts. The zips are high enough on the pant not to rub against the knee or dig into when you have to scramble or craw around on the ground looking for where you dropped you headlamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great set of convertible pants. These pants/shorts are very useful. I love traveling in them, since they have a lot of streamline pockets that aren't all over the place. I leave a cold winter day in the north east with long pants and arrive at a warm destination in the Caribbean in shorts!,,They are light, repel water and are are quick drying if they do get wet. the pockets are the best part since they can carry enough gear, but are also close enough to you to prevent strange hands from helping themselves to your wallet, passport or other possessions; the zippered pocket is perfect for this and fits a passport, credit cards and some cash safely.
