Despite my reservations about wearing North Face on a moral level, the quality of this jacket is undeniable. Super abrasion-resistant shell, waterproof Hyvent tech, long length, simple yet refined style and goose down. You could be perfectly at home with this on the city streets, as well as walking through the brush in the woods in January. A note on fit: I am 6'1", 185 lbs with a 40" chest and about 33" arm length (and a long torso). The medium was perfect for me ( I usually wear a large). I can wear a base layer and a sweater without it being tight, or just rock one layer and it's not too bulky. Full mobility without any bunching. Love the butt coverage.
I bought this coat for the hubby. We live in Chicago and the winters are very harsh. The coat does run a bit large, so I would get a size smaller than what you would normally purchase. My hubby is 5'8" and weighs 170 and a medium fits fine. He would even get very warm in the coat, so he doesn't even have to layer that much underneath it. If you experience harsh winters like Chicago or just want to stay warm, purchase this coat. It's a great investment.
"I feel winterily invincible in this jacket"

Jacket is insanely warm and windproof. Does run a bit big like others said, even at 6'2 210. So warm it's hard to care once it's on. Great color and finish to the jacket. Stylish but not fancy.Wasn't crazy about the fur at furst, but it does a great job blocking wind, and I tell people I killed a mountain lion so... Hood is very large, capable of supporting full chipmunk ecosystem in winter, hangs down to my eyelashes with head forward, and really keeps head warm even when down. Fur is removable if you really don't like it.Lots of pockets inside and out. Great length for cold windy days. Winterproof. Nuffsaid.
As others have stated, this thing is pretty warm. Its pretty much a Canada Goose Expedition down a notch. Got it for my brother's east coast blizzards over in montreal. These things do run slightly large..Usually i'm a medium and sometimes a large...a medium on this definately leaves enough room for some hefty layering...I "could" fit in a small, but then I wouldn't be able to layer much. "Great Parka, fits much larger than size"

Great Parka, warm as can be and comfortable. Nice trim and fit. Zippers are great. I normally wear a medium in all clothes. The sales person told me these fit true to size. The one previous review said there were large. Sales person was dead wrong, these fit very large. I returned it and ordered a small elsewhere, which fit perfect. I am 5 ft 8 and 152 lbs.
"Superwarm parka, sizing runs a bit large."

Got this parka to wear for wintertime here in Oslo, Norway for more urban/casual use. When I'm doing sports I like something lighter, but while waiting for subway, scraping the ice off my car, getting the kids to kindergarten etc. it's nice to have something big and warm. This jacket is pretty huge. I'm 185cm/95kg and could probably have gotten the medium (I got it in large). When I take it off, it takes up the whole passenger seat in my car. So this is not really a jacket for any kind of expedition or camping use, but for my purpose it is great. Warm, nice and cosy, tons of pockets, and adjusts in all the right places.
