"I may not need a new winter jacket for 10 years!" 01/21/12
This jacket is pretty sweet yall! You can wear this jacket one of three ways and Ive done them all. The only draw back is all the zippering and snapping you have to do whenever you want to remove or add an extra layer.
"AWESOME!!! LOVE IT!!!" 01/17/12
If you are looking for a versatile coat that is warm enough and dry enough to wear for outdoor activities in the snow, look no further, a waterproof coat that will keep you dry in rain or snow, look no further, a lighter coat to wear in the spring or fall, look no further. It looks great as well, although I would highly recommend, as with every North Face jacket, order a size up. If you are a large and order a large, the shell will fit pretty nicely, but it will be snug with the liner inside. (Me, I'm usually a Large, got an XL, perfectly happy! My build is 6'1" 200 with big chest and shoulders, so if you are more slender, a Large still may work.)
"Great jacket for the money" 12/29/11
I bought the jacket for a family member. The jacket is great looking and he says it is really warm. Prefers the new liner as opposed to the fleece liners. Did seem to run a bit smaller than other North Face jackets I have had.
"Good, but you can do better" 12/28/11
While the jacket is warm, I think for a similar amount of money you can do better. I returned this and bought the North Face Illiad, and I love that one. The Illiad is a little more, but worth it. It's single-layer, but I feel like it provides more warmth and is slimmer. This jacket is a little too bulky, and it seems to me that allows more air to be trapped in it, reducing the warmth. I'm 6' and 195lbs, and bought the large, which was definitely the right size. I am a huge fan of TNF products, so this one is worth checking out, and maybe for my body type, it didn't work.
"Sweet Jacket, Great Deal" 12/14/11
This jacket is functional and looks great. Not super bulky (good), but plenty warm for northern Indiana winters (also good). I'm 6'2, 195ish and got a large. The sleeves could be a half inch longer, but I have that problem with 95% of coats/jackets/shirts. Props to Moosejaw for the quick shipment. The free gift card and free shipment made this a great deal.
"Slim and lightweight but Triclimate insulation is too thin!" 11/30/11
The outer-shell is similar to other tri-climate jackets offered by the North Face. The inner jacket (i.e. the tri-climate insulation) is incredibly thin. The inner jacket appears to be somewhat puffy in the pictures; however, the jacket is no more thicker than an ordinary wind breaker. Thats really disappointing. Nonetheless it has kept me warm, but I have not experienced the worst of the Chicago weather yet. It better keep me warm for $200+!
"This is one heck of a jacket - it does EVERYTHING well!" 11/22/11
Bought this triclimate jacket for the harsh Michigan winters. Its completely water proof and blocks rain, snow, and hard winds. I was excited about the price... seems to be quite fair for the quality that you get. The styling is great, the materials are great, and yes its very warm. It would even make a good fall or spring coat if you remove the warm liner from the inside. I love it.
