Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never disappointed with NF! I ordered this jacket for my husband and was a little hesitant as I knew what I wanted the material to feel like, but the material description jargon was too much for me. Based on the other details provided (weight, pictures, etc), I determined this was in fact what I was looking for. When I received my jacket, it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for...lightweight, flexible material that is high on wind resistance (we are from Kansas so this is a must) and would fit well over a non wind proof, thicker "liner". I am very pleased that everything came true to description! The other words of advice definitely helped. My husband will look like hot stuff in this new piece of outerwear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a great 3-season jacket This is the third NF Pneumatic Jacket I've purchased for my husband. He loves 'em. He lives in 'em. We live in Wisconsin where he wears these jackets inside and out. In winter he wears it over a t-shirt in the house, but also as a layer when snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or just walking the dog. Fall and spring, he wears them as his jacket. He asked for this one for Father's Day, but started wearing it as soon as the mailman dropped it off. A good windbreaker and water-resistant layer. Looks great, too. The fit it is true to size; he's 6'3" and lean and a large fits him roomy and comfortably (he doesn't like tight) alone or with a light layer underneath. They've held up great after many washes, don't shrink, don't wrinkle, retain their color, shape and stitching. Just throw it in the washing machine and hang to dry. All around, a great jacket and always a good experience ordering from Moosejaw. Fun shopping and quick, free shipping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good windproofing, good lookin' This jacket is great when you don't want to bulk up on a breezy day. It's sleek, keeps my temperature moderate and doesn't constrict me the way a bunch of layers would. Lacks some of the bells and whistles that get caught on backpack straps and such that other NF jackets sometimes had. Good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I thought is was going to be a soft shell, my bad for not reading all the way, but my son LOVES IT!! MY SON LOVES IT , I myself thought it was going to be something different. But its what he likes not me...Love the style, looks awesome on, it fits nicely, he even put a hoodie underneath and still had a nice amount of room, dress up with dress cloths or dress down with jeans. Great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Jacket This Jacket has a nice fit, its really stretchy & comfortable on. It blocks out the wind really well & its water resistant so its good for rainy days. I plan on wearing it every season except for winter because its a little on the thin side for really cold weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This jacket rocks!! My husband was nervous when he took the jacket out of the Package. It's thin, but he wore it to a college football game, with a sweatshirt underneath and he was sweating! This jacket is highly recommended!

Trying to decide between the apex pneumatic, bionic and the shellrock (all Northface).  Need it for a basic winter coat (driving, shoveling snow, some hiking, etc).  I'm a warm person, get hot easy.  Any 1 of these 3 better than the others for my needs?

Asked by: Rikwalk27
Hey there, These are all great jackets, but for your specific needs I would have to give the edge to the Shellrock jacket due to it's wind and waterproof finish which is paired with a very breathable fabric to help keep you from overheating. These is a fleece jacket, which I would recommend layering underneath to keep you warm during colder days as this does not offer the same level of insulation as a down coat.
