"Warm and good wind-protection" 04/23/11
I don't exactly know what "performance fit" means, but if you think it means more of an athletic fit, you'll be disappointed. However, it means that there is plenty of room to layer with a sweatshirt (or, as my son has worn it before, with a L/S base layer, flannel, hoodie, and the jacket). Keeps the wind out no problem, which is a huge plus for photographers like my son. It's lightweight as well. If bought in black, the chest pocket doesn't contrast at all the way it does in the pictures. Blends right in, so if you're worried about that, don't be. The collar is nice and high to help cut the wind, and there are also pockets on the inside of the jacket, which is pretty nice as well.
"Great Jacket!!" 04/21/11
This is the 1st softshell jacket that i've had and it works great, totally waterproof and fits like a glove, great for wearing around in any kind of weather, due recommend wearing something insulated underneath if for cooler weather but it works great than having to carry around a heavy coat all the time.
"Great go to jacket for cool and some-what wet days" 04/11/11
This jacket is meant to be a 20 degree weather jacket so don't expect to wear at the top of Mt. Everest (or McKinley should I say). It will keep you warm in the 20 degree range but it also maintains high breath-ability. During a moderate rain this jacket will keep you dry, it sheds the rain very well and the polyurethane zippers do the DWR finish justice. This jacket also features a high collar which cuts through the wind. The entire jacket performs extremely well in the wind and seems fully windproof. In addition to a high collar there are also two cinch cords at the bottom of the jacket that allow for one handed cinching. Overall this jacket does not disappoint
"Great jacket" 03/21/11
Fit: slightly roomy (I have Med., 5'8" / 190 athletic), so you can layer with a longsleeve or a microfleece underneath.Performance: 100% windproof (in store, couldn't feel a thing with the breathe-through test; outdoors, no wind has gotten through yet), warm, and allows good movement. Slight fabric buckle when sitting down because of the slightly bigger fit, but not a big problem. DWR works great. Less breathable than thinner shells, but that's to be expected as this is a heavier shell than the Bionic. Good for colder weather.Construction: very sturdy, bombproof.
"Great Shell" 03/06/11
I was looking for a good windproof softshell with fleece lining to wear either as a layered shell in cold, or as a single jacket in mild weather, and this jacket fits the bill nicely.I am an athletic build 6'2" around 195lbs, 33" waste line - and the medium fits perfectly with room to spare when wearing a tshirt. I prefer a snug fit and sometimes it fits a bit loose, but it still looks good (to me anyway) regardless.I bought the black one and was worried that the chest patch would stand out, as it looks like it is a lighter gray-ish color against the black jacket - but it does not. It matches exactly to the black jacket color and blends in nicely.Buy it!
"Good lookin' all purpose jacket" 01/19/11
Bought this jacket for my husband who was quite literally the only person in our area without a North Face jacket. To prevent him from wearing his wool pea coat with his workout clothes I bought him this jacket and he loves it! It's perfect for mild winter conditions as it's wind and water repellent. The grey color goes with everything. The fit is great ... he usually wears between a M & L but the large fit perfectly. I highly recommend this jacket if you're looking for a standard use, go-to, jacket for mild winter days.
"Awesome" 12/04/10
I've had this jacket exactly a year now and love wearing it around with jeans. It's slim cut and has long sleeves since I'm 6'00" and 165lbs. It stays very warm and cuts the wind easily. It's semi-rain proof. It keeps me dry in light rain. I'd highly recommend this jacket if you live in a slightly warm climate. It hardly ever gets below 40 degrees in San Antonio.
"All in one jacket.....Perfect" 11/17/10
My husband received this coat last year as a gift and loved it so much. I say loved because he no longer has it. The jacket mysterously took a road trip to college with our son. The perfect jacket for a college student. Light weight but yet warm in cold weather and absolutely wonderful the way the rain bounces off of it. One multifunctional jacket...perfect for all. My husband will get another this year same color and everything.
"This is the One!" 11/13/10
This jacket is comfortable, warm, good-looking, with excellent fit and finish. I was unable to find one at a local retail shop for fitment, but currently own another Apex-line jacket so went ahead with the purchase. I was not disappointed when I received it. Fitment was good. Very light and flexible. Nice outer shell to repel rain and interior lining provides some warmth, too. Not sure about the velcro for the sleeves, but it looks durable. Living in Seattle where the weather is mild and wet, this is the perfect jacket. Unless we get some heavy snow, this Mckinley jacket should be just right with a warm sweater underneath during winter season.
"Great Jacket" 10/26/10
I am a college student, and this is a perfect jacket for campus. It is great for getting around to classes when the weather gets cold, great for the cold football games, and it looks great to wear out anywhere. It is overall a great jacket. It fits well. Blocks the wind like no other. It is well worth the price tag as long as you can drop some change on it. Have had it for a year, and can hardly see wear on it, and I wear it almost everyday when it is cold. The best buy that I have made in a long time. And the bittersweet brown looks great.
"Great jacket for shoulder seasons" 07/05/10
This jacket works great for Fall, Spring, and those winter days when its sunny and everything gets slushy because it's no longer -10 degrees her in Madtown.Additionally, you can wear this jacket out on the town and not look like a total goon, which is harder for me than it probably is for you, so it'll go even better.
