For Michigan weather it does great things. You are talking to a owner of two of these wonderful jackets. Living in the mitten is a wonderful thing but when it comes to winter I tend to to think differently. I have depended on this jacket to get me through multiple hikes, events, and just day to day life. It has one down side. The hood pulls seem to break easily. Without the hood pulls the hood will not stay up on a windy day. If you are used to getting knocked out by wind this coat is not for you. Otherwise this coats keeps you toasty warm. Oh and it is waterproof and easily washable, which is great for someone who likes to get in fights with mud puddles. If they would just fix those darn hood ties.

Goose Feathers Ashamed of North Face Poor Quality Flee Parka in 5 DaysWe live in New England where snow storms and (now) tornados pop quiz us. "I was robbed!" I thought when I opened the bag. We had 36 degree weather last week 11/22/13 and my nine year old little girl was huddled up in the front seat of my car trying to keep warm? With the coat on! Uh, uh...don't do it; not even worth $100. Found a Marmot with 700 Down fill, with DWR coating and Longer torso (29") to be exact for HALF the price..on sale of course AND, FREE 2-day Shipping!! Yeah! Can't wait to see & test it! I'll keep you posted. Pay attention, not inflation!

works well in Chicago5'3" adult here, between PS-PM. XL may have given me more room but sold out (as did all the adult sizes this awful winter). L is form-fitting so now I am warm and trendy. True to size. I have only tested to 20 degrees and still warm. I love the "this jacket belongs to" label inside - should read "hands off this jacket belongs to." Would appreciate a pocket inside the jacket to go hands free.
